메타위키는 여러 언어로 이용되는 게 상정되어 있었지만, 2004년 7월 기준으로 문서의 약 文85%가 영어로 되어 있었습니다(그 후 2005년 1월 기준으로 독일어, 일본어, 프랑스어의 문서 증가와 번역자의 공헌으로 75% 전후로 개선). 전 세계로 전개하여, 일관한 방침을 달아서, 많은 멤버의 참가를 유효하게 도움이 되려고 한다면 위키미디어는 언어화를 향한 노력을 서둘러야 합니다. 이미 비영어권으로부터의 위키미디어 참가자가 증가해오고 있는 것입니다.
