Project GLOW
About
[edit]GLOW is derived from Growing Local Language Content on Wikipedia, and is a collaboration between Google’s search Team and Wikimedia Foundation’s partnerships team, that aims at creating articles for what users have searched most on Google, on a certain language, in a certain geography, where the search yielded missing results. Those lists of missing articles are part of the targeted articles to be edited or created, and another part is curated by Wikipedia communities in each language.
Project GLOW is an expansion of the earlier project Tiger, which has been implemented in India in 2017 and 2018 in collaboration with Google. The project resulted in creation of 4,466 articles with 220 contributors.

Local community teams manage the planning and operations of all processes of the project is each geography. This includes jury selection, article curation, contest rules and campaigns design. Project GLOW runs directly through local communities in each geography, either through chapters or mission aligned organizations that work with Wikipedians on the ground. Each local group decides on project focus, planning, contest design, timeline and project budget. The Wikimedia Foundation's partnership team continues to support communities and local organizers as needed.
