There is over 4000 people from Warmia (Poland), Warnija in warmian, that still speak warmian and thousands of people from this land that understand their dialect. We have modern music bands that sing in warmian (e.g. Hoboud), local press, where short stories in warmian are published and internet forums. Warmian (warnijsko godka, warnijski jajzyk) is very unique and even silesian seems to be closer to polish. There is many things to name in warmian, so I'm sure Wikipedia would be really great project to support this dialect and to evolve. There are young and older poeple that would like to write articles or to help at editing in warmian. ISO code "wrj" and "wj" is my proposition right now. I wrote a request to ISO today, so I'm waiting for answer.

Arguments in favour[edit]

  • It's true that the Warmian dialect is still dying, but I believe it is able to be reborn. It can be use- not really in daily life, but in way like another Polish dialects- it can enrich culture of region. History of language is long- it was used for about 5 centuries. In my opinion it is not natural to remove such language forever in a few years after the 2ww by mixing and migrations of indigenous peoples. We've a few official Warmian natives, a few bands who sing in Warmian and forums where people want to speak in Warmian! New wikipedia or "Zikipedia" can really help for revive traditions and culture of Warmia. I am ready to write in this section. --Ranov 19:51, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • In fact, Warmian is a polish dialect, but Warmian is very different from Polish. It has lots of German influences and also, some words are said to come from Old-prussian. The language is still used by certain people and I think it would be great to start Warmian Wikipedia.--Piteris 17:41, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Warmian dialect is still spoken by very small group of people in Poland and in Germany (the majority of Warmian people emigrated in te seventies to the GFR). But it's also true that exist some people keen on history and culture of East Pussia who learn this dialect and could write Wikipedia in Warmian. I would recommend to create this projekt as a tribute to the language which was spoken in 1945 by ca. 50 thousand of people. Wikipedysta:Warschauer (from Polish Wiki)
