Simple English Wikispecies
[edit]submitted | verification | final decision |
This proposal has been rejected. This decision was taken by the language committee in accordance with the Language proposal policy based on the discussion on this page. The closing committee member provided the following comment: This wiki fails several criteria for approval, notably an ISO 639 code and sufficient uniqueness to require a new wiki. In addition, splitting a multilingual project is beyond the scope of this request process and requires community consensus on the multilingual Wikispecies. —{admin} Pathoschild 15:26:28, 06 November 2007 (UTC) |

Even though people may think it would be very hard or even impossible or pointless to create a simple English wikispecies, I think it would be a good idea. It would be a simple version of the normal wikispecies. Z 13:50, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Wikispecies is a multilingual project (hence there being no language code in the URL, much like Commons). Simple English already exists, along with all the other languages. I am one of those people who think it would be pointless to create a "Simple English" version of it. Majorly (talk) 14:57, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with Majorly. I is pointless, because wikispecies is not in English, therefore it can't be in Simple English either. It is a directory of scientific names (which are not English, and translations can be added in every language, click a random page to see) and already available in many languages (see -> Wikispecies in other languages). If You like to have a Simple English Wikispecies-version, add Your language there (e.g. under Wikispecies:Main Page (Simple English)). --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:52, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- It will be better starting Wikinews or Wikiversity. These projects are more easy to set up. Uswibèta 19:11, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- As Majorly and Spacebirdy already said, there is absolutely no use for creating Wikispecies in another language. It is a language-free project, and translations can be added in the wiki. --Thogo (talk) 19:28, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
