Steward requests/Permissions

This page enables stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. 'If your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (see the index of request pages). Requests for bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and CheckUser queries belong elsewhere.

For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewards IRC channel (see a web-based IRC client). In emergencies only, type !steward in the channel to inform stewards that you need help.

Please only make requests here after gaining the approval of your local community.

When requesting permissions, copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Please fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

====Project name and language====
I request sysop access.
*'''Language Code:''' xx
*'''Local Request Link:''' [[xx:Project:wiki]]
*'''Local User Page:''' [[xx:User:Example]]

Thank you. ~~~~

Administrator access

See administrator for information about the position. Requests for temporary permissions and removal of access belong in other sections.

Buginese Wikipedia

I request sysop access.

Thank you. Kurniasan 07:47, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please file a request for adminship on Wikipedia and come back when community elected you. MaxSem 08:23, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That is the problem. There are only one admin in that Wikipedia and I can't find a way to contact him. The admin does have user account but he is not active. Kurniasan 09:07, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about this. Post in some public page (village pump) that you want to be a sysop. After 1 week, if you have no considerable opposition (for instance, if wiki is inactive, nobody will oppose ;) come here, show us the page, and we'll sysop you. drini [es:] [commons:] 03:00, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

yiddish wikipedia

dy-sysop all and make danny and heral and dror sysop instead as per votes in local page[1]--יודל 21:13, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment - dror isn't even signed up there at the moment... Yonatanh 15:24, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

danny has expressed willingness to only come in and help if dror is also made sysop the community has agreed. i don't know which dror he means. but i think this is a real emergency and the stewards cannot ignore it anymore.--71.249.34.26 22:32, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Danny can come and speak for himself. drini [es:] [commons:] 22:40, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator permissions on ro.Wikibooks

Hi, my name is Emily, I am administrator on ro.wikipedia and I require administrator permissions for ro.wikibooks, because I want to correct the mistakes, translate the interface, do some cleaning and add new content, considering that the two admins of ro.wikibooks have not been active since 2006. Thank you, Emily

it seems you don't need sysop for what you want to do, isn't it? In any case, post a note duringa week on that wiki , if nobody opposes, come back and we'll talk again. drini [es:] [commons:] 20:21, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat access

See bureaucrat for information about the position.

Tigrinya Wikipedia

I request bureaucrat access.

Thank you. --Yonasb

The page was created today, and no one has even commented on it yet. You need to wait a period of at least seven days, and over that period of time, you need to obtain the local community's support for your having this flag before we can set it. Redux 13:22, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: This wiki does not have a sysop yet. It seems early for a bureaucrat. --Dbl2010 03:17, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Urdu Wiktionary

Contact

I request Bureaucrat access.

Thank you. Wahab 03:18, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I'm confused; a request for adminship for Wisesabre was later changed to your name (including votes) by the administrator ‏افرازالقریش‎. Since I cannot read Urdu, I'm having difficulty making sense of the change. Could you please explain this? —{admin} Pathoschild 20:04:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Our community at urdu wikipedia at first decided that wisesabre should take Bureacrat access, After his request was delayed, wisesabre himself refused to be bureaucrat . Now same community has chosen me for this job because im, mostly active at wiktionary. You can contact these voters at urdu wikipedia. They can answer any of your question in english.Wahab
Please make a new nomination for yourself, notify the community on the relevant page, and wait at least a week. Simply changing an existing request to your own name is unusual and defeats the purpose of having an election. Thanks. —{admin} Pathoschild 07:05:44, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

CheckUser access

To request CheckUser information, see Request for CheckUser information. This is the place to request CheckUser access. Note that temporary CheckUser access is not permitted.

Stewards: When someone asks for CheckUser status, please check the current policy regarding bestowal of status before giving the status. Breaching these rules may be cause for removing your steward access. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser, ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l, and email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list (the list may contain confidential information).

Oversight access

Do not initiate an oversight request here. The Arbitration Committee will make the request once there is consensus on the local wiki (this process is currently for en-Wikipedia only).

Stewards: When you give someone oversight access, list them on Hiding revisions.

Removal of access

You may request that your own access be removed here; stewards will grant such requests immediately if you provide proof that you are the same user on meta as on your local wiki. This may be accomplished most easily by placing a note in English on your local talk page confirming your request.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

wikt:ja:User:Ninomy

Please remove my sysop access on ja.wiktionary. Thank you. --Ninomy 12:19, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We just need for you to post at your user page or user talk page on that project, while logged on, so that we can confirm your identity. It's just a precaution. All you need to write is something like "I'm requesting removal of my adminship on Meta", and then please post the diff for that edit here. Thank you. Redux 17:52, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wikt:hr:Suradnik:Dubaduba

Hi, as the main admin on the hr:wiktionary, I request the removal of user Dubaduba's status as a sysop. He hasn't been active since December ' 04 ([2]) neither there or on other projects except the Hungarian wiktionary (see here). I tried to contact him ([3], [4]) but he didn't respond. Thanks, —ʟuka κrstulović 17:27, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Unless inactivity is accepted as a valid reason on that wikt, and a timeframe is stablished, we can't desysop him. We don't desysop X becuase Y thinks he should be desysopped, specially since being inactive is of no harm to the project. However if you need MORE admins, propose them on your local wiki and then return here with the ones approved drini [es:] [commons:] 17:30, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. I just wasn't sure who he even is since I never managed to contact him, and is it possible for him to do any harm if he comes back. He wasn't elected admin by any real voting, well, a really small one, just one vote and it could of been a sock puppet. I hope he won't do any harm this way. I just thought, well, since he didn't make much contributions on the project, it would be better to desysop him just in case, but it's ok this way. Thank you, and sorry for the misunderstanding, —ʟuka κrstulović 19:51, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's ok, if he ever comes back and does bad things, come and tell us as soon as possible. drini [es:] [commons:] 02:58, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese Wikipedia

I request to remove my sysop accees.

Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

If you are requesting administrator status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki project, which seeks to make a neutral MediaWiki translation that will then be default for all wikis. That is more useful than only making a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list. See also MediaWiki localisation.

Stewards: Currently active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary. When granting a request, please copy the request to the appropriate section there, and clearly state the date of removal. Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage.

Navajo Wikipedia

I understand if you feel the need to decline this, but I would like to request the sysop bit on the Navajo Wikipedia. Despite the fact that I don't speak a word of the language, and don't even have an account there yet, I feel there is probably quite a bit of sysop work that I can do there. It was this that inspired me to request this. I would block users like that, protect a few important pages like nv:Íiyisíí Naaltsoos, which is clearly the Main Page, and do other general sysop work that doesn't require me knowing the language. If you are unwilling to grant permenant sysopship, please consider temporary access instead.

Thank you. --Deskana 14:56, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This project has two sysops, Jmerkey and Node ue. Both are generally not from this project and are not active enough. I'm sure that anothr temp admin is appropriate, but I'd like opinions from another steward. MaxSem 15:18, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would appreciate permenant sysopship if possible. Is this not possible? --Deskana 15:46, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure it wouldn't hurt to ask the (semiactive) community there? stewards dont' decide, remember? drini [es:] [commons:] 04:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, only problem is I don't speak a word of the language. --Deskana 11:37, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Make the request in english, most people there do know english. drini [es:] [commons:] 14:22, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I tried finding some sort of noticeboard but I can't find anything. I posted a request on the talk page of the main page. --Deskana 18:01, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Deskana, have you tried nv:Wikiibíídiiya:Community Portal ? drini [es:] [commons:] 18:29, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Khmer Wikipedia

I would like to request temporary sysop access to kmwiki as the wiki is full of vandalism and spam. The sysop there (km:User:Bookofjude & km:User:Fuzheado) has been inactive for quite a while now. Thanks. Master2841 19:21, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
