An overview of the Wikipedia landscape in South Africa; since one of the eleven official languages, English, is a world language as well as having the oldest and largest Wikipedia, attention is focused on the other languages, which all have Wikipedias except for one (IsiNdebele). The texts are described statistically; their editor communities likewise, and attention is then turned to potential steps to reduce the observed inequalities, in terms of technology, policy and community-building.
