This page documents a completed research project.

The goal of this moderated user study is to understand how active Wikimedians who regularly edit multiple projects respond to a redesigned interface for the Notifications Page. The study will use an interactive prototype of a new, more feature-rich version of the Notifications page, which was designed to display cross-wiki notifications, as well as improved searching and filtering of all archived notifications.

The findings from this study will inform the development (by the Collaboration team) of new Notifications features.

Methods[edit]

Interviews with 3-5 editors will involve questions that focus on understanding their current practices around notification configuration, monitoring, and triage, as well as a series of simple tasks and questions intended to evaluate a prototype interface for the Notifications page.

Timeline[edit]

  • February 2016: recruit participants, begin user studies
  • March 2016: finish user studies, write report
