English language inclusion criteria?[edit]

Interviews are required. Does this mean all participants must have good English speaking skills?

What about people who speak English, but who also use non-English Wikipedia versions? Are those sorts of participants wanted? Blue Rasberry (talk) 12:56, 22 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Bluerasberry: My only language is English so as long as the participant can communicate in English that is fine. English as a first language is not required. People who use non-English Wikipedia are also eligible to participate. My Primary interest is whether or not people who access Wikipedia use the information they find there, and if so, how. Participant characteristics[edit]

Are any of the following desirable participant types

  1. Wikipedia editors who do not edit health content, but use it
  2. Wikipedia health content editors
  3. physicians or health care workers who use Wikipedia
  4. students who have edited Wikipedia for health assignments, but who are not routine editors

I ask because as a Wikipedia editor I saw a recruitment notice for participants, and I want to support the study by forwarding the message to where I think good participants could find it. I do not have individuals in mind, but I do know of mailing lists and community programs where people with range of experience talk about Wikipedia and health.

thanks Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:06, 22 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Bluerasberry: I am only interested in those who have accessed Wikipedia's health and medical information as a general consumer. On your list, I would accept participation from populations that fall under items 1, 2 and 4 as long as they have used Wikipedia's health and medical content within the last 2 years. I would make an acceptation for item 3 (physicians and health care workers) if they have used Wikipedia's health information outside of the context of their professional practice. Does that help? Please share this study widely. Mcbrarian (talk) 14:22, 22 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
