Support type

[edit]

What type of support you need

  • Internet

Reason

[edit]

Why do you need this support (Internet)?

I live in a semi-rural area where there is no reliable broadband Internet service provider. A few local ISPs exist but they are extremely unreliable and undergo frequent unplanned downtime. Additionally, power outages affect network connectivity. I rely on my mobile broadband connection for all my current Wikimedia activities listed in the "Your Contribution" section and here. However, mobile Internet tariffs are significantly higher than those for wired broadband. Bandwidth caps and limits on data use (called Fair Use Policy) in mobile broadband tariff plans are low, as low as 8GB on my ISP. My data usage often reaches the monthly data transfer limit before the bill cycle ends, which hampers my activities. I am requesting a stipend so that I can subscribe to a tariff plan with a higher limit.

Future activities

[edit]

How will you use this in the next six months?

I would use the stipend to avail Internet services for all my current activities mentioned in the "Your Contribution" section.

Community discussion and endorsements

[edit]

Please keep the discussion friendly, and note that the number of endorsements may not be the only way to assess an application's merit.

  1. Let infrequent internet connection not decrease their contribution.

  1. Oppose Oppose -- yet to receive a reply over here.No evasive actions, please!Winged Blades of Godric (talk) 12:44, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Winged Blades of Godric: Are you actually saying that you are opposing this application not on its merits or lack thereof, but for you not receiving a reply to your extremely loaded and presumptuous query? That question which was appended to a comment which was marked as a violation of the friendly space policy? That question which was posted after the community review period was over, when I was no longer actively watching the space for questions and comments? It was posted as an endorsement of the grant proposal and not where questions about the proposal should go. But of course, the only inference you draw from my not engaging with your question is that I must want to evade it. Oppose this application all you want; this is not the place to answer loaded queries that piggy-back on prejudiced and hostile comments. -- Rohini (talk) 06:57, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
