Add topicGeneral questions from the Affiliations Committee
[edit]Annyeong haseyo, everybody. Before I begin with the review of your by-laws, I hope you guys can answer some questions for the Affiliations Committee. These questions are asked of all aspiring affiliates, and I hope that you'll be able to answer them to the best of your ability so we can continue with the application. Thank you. :) --Sky Harbor (talk) 05:19, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- Who are the people behind this application?
- How many?
- At this moment, 30. You can find them at the member list page. [1]
- any active (on local or international level) Wiki[pm]edians? (please provide user names and wiki of origin)
- Most of us are active. You can find the user names at [1] on Korean Wikipedia.
- Active in which communities if any?
Mostly they are from Korean Wikipedia projects, but a few are active at other sister projects such commons, Korean Wiktionary, etc.
- Could you give a short overview of the time path of the founding up to now?
- A few of us met for the first time in 2007. In 2009, some of us organized the first Korean Wikipedia Conference, and they also hosted the 10th Wikipedia anniversary event in January, 2011. Some of the members hosted the photo hunt event in the spring of 2011. Then, we formed a preparation committee for WIkimedia Korea at April 15th, 2011 and elected the executive members among us. We hosted a Wikipedia Academy in the National Library of Korea with the assistance of 2 speakers from the Foundation, November 2011. In 2011, we continued to host a few edit-a-thons. You can find the activities at [2]. Some of executive members consulted with external bodies for contributing on Wikipedia under the name of Wikimedia Korea reparation committee. In 2013, The executive members contacted the officials of Korean government and the Foundation to found Wikimedia Korea.
- Have there been any activities/meetings etc. of this group of people?
- We had a few events to celebrate Wikipedia anniversary events and the achievements of Korean Wikipedia. We hosted a Wikimedia Academy and several edit-a-thons.
- What kind of activities are planned for the future in the chapter?
- Annual Korean Wikipedia Conferences, Wikipedia Academy, Edit-a-thons, GLAM related events, fundraising, developers camp, and activities for consulting external bodies who need advices to contribute to Wikipedia.
- Do you have an overview of how many Wikimedians would like to join the chapter when founded?
- 100 members. They potential members are the active editors on Korea Wikipedia.
- Have the bylaws been reviewed by a lawyer/specialist?
- Yes, one of the executive members is a layer. But still we need a review from a supervisory official of the in the Korean government.
- How can we help you?
- Please translate the bylaws into English and review. And give us a schedule and a task list for further development.

[edit]Some more questions from AffCom
[edit]Hello guys,
I have a few questions regarding your bylaws. Some of my colleagues may have additional questions. Here are mine, though:
- Chapter 1
- Article 2: This statement of purpose is a bit too aligned to the WMF.Please keep in mind that you are a different organization and that affiliating does not necessarily mean you must align 100% with the WMF. I'd suggest changing the language to show more you are a different and independent organization interested in promoting the values of the Wikimedia movement.
- Chapter 3
- Article 21: It seems this allows bylaw changes by only 10% of the members agreeing (over one-fifth of total members participated in and agreed by over half of participants). This would give too much decision power to a small group. I would suggest like at least a solid majority present and approving..2/3 present and 50% +1 approving.
- Article 22: I don't think it is practical for the Chairperson to take notes during meetings -I mean, if the Chairperson can take notes, that would be awesome, but such role should be defined for a different person so that the Chairperson directs the meetings more effectively. Maybe appointing a Secretary.
- Chapter 4:
- Article 25: Could you please elaborate on which heavies are heavier than imprisonment?
- Chapter 5
- Article 37: I don't quite understand Article 37 -should a Trustee receive a wage?

This english draft of bylaw is totally different from current Korean bylaw, because we changed our bylaw according to a guideline of Seoul Government. As we mentioned in the top of the document, we should change the english draft. Why don't you talk about the bylaw after we translate the new Korean bylaw? --Mineralsab (talk) 09:36, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- No problem. Then we will wait for the translated new version! Effeietsanders (talk) 10:23, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
