Other key policies and guidelines that effect dispute resolution and harassment policy enforcement on English Wikipedia

[edit]

Hello Trevor, I like the work that you are doing to learn about the policies and guidelines on English Wikipedia. You have collected a good list. There are more policies and guidelines on English Wikipedia that heavily influence dispute resolution but are not obviously related to dispute resolution. These three are key because that are directly related to the way that people should be treated.

I have some examples of ways that these policies are being interpreted and enforced that are not ideal and could stand improvement. I'll email them to you to avoid publicly highlighting the contributions of volunteers in an overly negative way. Sydney Poore/FloNight (talk) 20:16, 18 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Sydney! I'll work these into the article. (It's a wiki, so you and everyone else should feel free to add or edit content!) I was not aware of the attack page policy — that's certainly good to know. I know BLP is a very crucial policy for Wikipedia's health and success, but hadn't thought of how it directly affects conduct disputes. (Although I'm sure it is brought up often by wikilawyers.) I'm still awaiting your email. After I 'complete' this page I will be focusing my efforts on Community health initiative/Examples of harassment on English-language Wikipedia, and your provided examples will be very helpful! — Trevor Bolliger, WMF Product Manager 🗨 18:15, 28 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
