Talk:Death anomalies table

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Explanations[edit]

I think it is better to discuss technical issues here and not on the foundation-l list. This is smth I would like to implement on ru.wp as well, but first I need to discuss it with the community, and in order to discuss it I need to understand how it works. I guess you need two avenues - to collect data and to provide the information on mismatching data. If I understood correctly the foundation-l message, the data is already getting collected from ru.wp, and we would not need to do anything from this end. However, I do not understand at all how the information end works. Is there any report created on articles which have no data on the death and interwikis do have it, and then this information is dumped into some file by a bot on a regular basis? Or does the bot leave messages on the talk pages?--Yaroslav Blanter 11:48, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yaroslav, it would be great to have ru wiki join this. The system works by creating reports for chapters that request it, you also must have a compatible category system, with categories for people who died in particular years. The bot runs once per day. The bot looks at the articles on your project that are biographies of living people, and checks the interwiki links to about 80 other languages. If you have someone alive according to RU wiki who is dead according to one of the other 80 language wikis then the report will contain an anomaly report for them. This is the EN wiki report the RU wiki report would be similar but would show articles on your project and the articles on other languages which think the person is dead. Often I find I can just take the source cited by the article on the other wiki and change the en wiki to show that the person has died citing that source. When that happens the article will not be on the next version of the report. Hope that helps. WereSpielChequers 01:33, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not working[edit]

Hello, during wikimania I've opted in for el.wikipedia but we did not get any report (el:User:Geraki/Θάνατοι). Is there something that I should change or it slipped through the cracks? --Geraki TL 09:28, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

es and id are not working either. --UV 18:39, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania 2013[edit]

Is anyone involved in this going to HongKong? I've had a presentation accepted but can't attend. If anyone who's going would like to make the presentation please get in touch. Just as good if anyone would like to contribute a slide on their language's experience that would be awesome. WereSpielChequers (talk) 18:26, 20 May 2013 (UTC) en:user:CT Cooper has agreed to do it.
