How does this align with the Education newsletter?[edit]

Hi @Kambai Akau:, Congratulations on making Tyap Wikipedia a live project. It was so inspiring to learn your journey and see how you achieved this success. While we are happy to share your success with the rest of the community, we also need to understand if this the right space to publish this article or shall we look for more options like the diff blog. Here are a few guiding questions that I have, that may help you align your article. Please let me know if you need more help.

  • Did you arrange a collaborative project with an educational institution?
  • Have you involved teachers or students in this program?
  • What are the learnings that participants (students, teachers, or Wikimedians) have by taking part in this program?
  • Does it advocates for open education in your region? Can you align the article with these questions.

Hi @Kambai Akau:, please let me know if you need help with this. We will be publishing the newsletter article tomorrow. If you can make changes to the article by then, it will be helpful or we can publish it in the next month edition. --SPatnaik (WMF) (talk) 14:59, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings SPatnaik (WMF). Sorry, I couldn't reply earlier in response to your questions. Here are my replies:
  • Did you arrange a collaborative project with an educational institution? = No, there was no collaboration with an educational institution.
  • Have you involved teachers or students in this program? = Some of the participants are students from different tertiary institutions --> monotecnics and universities
  • What are the learnings that participants (students, teachers, or Wikimedians) have by taking part in this program? = The participating students learned how to edit on the Wikimedia Incubator, contributing the much knowledge they had of their mother tongue into the translation project which involves knowledge transfer.
  • Does it advocate for open education in your region? = On the long run, yeah! If one can be able to gain knowledge on a particular subject matter (a Wikipedia article) in one's mother tongue and from other languages, like in trying to read the translation of a particular article in one's mother tongue and in the process learns of other terminologies and how other languages call that same terms, learning can be said to have or is taking place. So, in my region, this free online wiki encyclopedia advocates for a more open education on the long run. I am hoping that a Wikimedia Educational outreach would be held by us soon in collaboration with an educational institution to enlighten students and teachers on WMF and editing on Wikipedia.
