What metric are you using to determine that Wikispecies is the 3rd largest project?? That would really surprise me. If you are doing raw page number comparisons, for Commons please include pages in the Image: namespace.

Looking at Table of Wikimedia Projects by Size, ranking by #edits, Commons is 9th (1-8 are all Wikipedias). By users, Commons is 7th (again, 1-6 are Wikipedias). I do not believe there is any fair metric where you will find Wikispecies ranked before Commons (fair given that they deal with fundamentally different types of works). I'm being a touch parochial, but dude -- seriously. :) --pfctdayelise
