CEO salary[edit]

It is worth noting that ED/CEO compensation appears to have increased from $200,000 in 2011 to $300,000 by 2016 and over $400,000 by 2021, all while fundraising banners created the impression the WMF was struggling to have enough money to keep Wikipedia up and running.

Last year's fundraising banners in India asked readers for $2. India is a country with a median per-capita income of $616. It takes over 200,000 such donations per year to pay the CEO.

The greed on display here, however justified and rationalised, is appalling. --Andreas JN466 08:39, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unknown unknowns[edit]

What I read in

never came to my attention. It didn’t occur to me that there might have been guidance that varied from the approach we were considering

is "we didn't know that we didn't know what to do, but we knew we never had experience with handling such a thing before". A responsible conclusion then is to seek assistance from someone who knows better, like other organisations who had to face a similar matter. An irresponsible conclusion is "whatever I don't know can't be that important, I'll just trust myself". Nemo 16:08, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
