how about sysops ?

@ user:Tgr: In this page doesn't say after removing permissions from sysop groups do they have permission to edit on regular MediaWiki namespace such as mediawiki:Spam-whitelist? Yamaha5 (talk) 18:40, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

Yamaha5 sysop access to edit the MediaWiki namespace for NON-JS/CSS pages will not be removed in the current engagement. — xaosflux Talk 19:03, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
User:Xaosflux thanks. can Interface administrators edit regular MediaWiki namespace such as mediawiki:Spam-whitelist? Yamaha5 (talk) 19:07, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
User:Yamaha5 yes, by default IA's will be able to edit all mediawiki pages. Local sysops can override this by applying sysop-only protection to a mediawiki page if desired. (Assuming the IA is not also already a sysop). — xaosflux Talk 19:09, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
User:Xaosflux: for local wikis, can we ask to remove this general access? may be from phabricator's folk? Yamaha5 (talk) 19:12, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
@Yamaha5: you can ask for anything :D However, this would not be very useful, as the .js/.css pages your local IA's would need to edit are in the MediaWiki: namespace. For the most part, your community can make its own rules for who gets this access of course, and you could make being a +sysop a community requirement for access if you want. — xaosflux Talk 19:17, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

What about Wikipedia:Module namespace

Will the access to the code base in the namespace Wikipedia:Module be restricted to this group? Example: en:Module:Color_contrast/colors? nsaa (talk) 19:04, 23 August 2018 (UTC)

@Nsaa: not to the namespace, but if someone make Module:Foo.js that page would be. — xaosflux Talk 00:08, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification! nsaa (talk) 14:45, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

@Nsaa and Xaosflux: the Module namespace is not affected, only MediaWiki and User. --Tgr (talk) 15:13, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
