Talk:Learning and Evaluation/Archive/Learning modules/1Cross-project Cohorts

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

This assume that I already know in which projects the user may be active. Should one just add a username for each of the 800 Wikimedia projects in order to catch all activity? --Nemo 09:26, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nemo! Yes, currently you need to know which projects that username is active for your participant. It is not recommended that you assume a single username to be the same name/person across projects. If your cohort list is small you can query central auth one at a time to see which projects that username is active and linked to, but that would be very time consuming for any sizable cohort. However, there is good news, there is features work in-progress so that soon you will be able to take your single username list and query central auth within Wikimetrics to populate an expanded cohort list with all valid cases of your users across all projects. They are also working to populate the project labeling for each username in reporting outputs so that you will be able to aggregate your data by project. These features will deployed in the next month or so.JAnstee (WMF) (talk) 18:17, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
