Penderel's Oak up for sale[edit]

I notice the Penderel's Oak is one of the Wetherspoons up for sale [1]. Let's hope it remains as a decent venue (and open on Sundays, which many other pubs in the area aren't), or we might end up needing to find a new home. the wub "?!" 22:36, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I understand it will stay open until sold but may not be a pub afterward. There is another Wetherspoons, the Shakespeare's Head, around the corner in Kingsway which is not slated for closure and is already the backup so I assume we will simply move there. Yes, we used the Shakespeare's Head a couple of times a few years ago when the Oak was closed for refurbishment. The consensus as I recall was that the Oak worked better for us, but that the Head was fine. Edwardx (talk) 10:55, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't like the Shakespeare's Head and so would suggest shopping around about if we have to move on. Andrew D. (talk) 18:43, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Shakespeare's Head is usually a lot busier, so harder to get and keep a whole area for us. Plus it's louder. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:14, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
