Talk:Megalomaniacal point of view

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

ISTM that w:en:Wikipedia:The universe does not revolve around you is trying to cover the same ground in a less abrasive way. --IMeowbot 11:34, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)

It's interesting to note that the two articles were started on the same day, within hours of each other ... I think the abrasive point of this article is its title. It's accurate, but we could do with another name that is nevertheless as succinct. - David Gerard 14:18, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, it's some of the words in both pages that I worry a little about. Even if they're true, people in sour moods are going to read these things in the most negative light possible, when epople inevitably point to them amid flame/edit wars. Yeah, I know, it depends on each reader's sense of humor & perspective, but that's hard to judge.) I have an alternative in mind, but am still trying to figure out how to avoid making it sound like a cheesy Star Trek dialogue. --IMeowbot 23:13, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
We're talking about clues to the clueless here. Note the saving throw currently at the end of the list of symptoms - similar to the proviso in Don't be a dick that bandying the epithet "dick" around is itself something of a dick move - David Gerard 11:11, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

what th diff?[edit]

MPOV is characterized not by a belief that your own personal viewpoints are correct and thus must be represented in Wikipedia — but rather by the belief that your own personal viewpoints are neutral.

what is the difference, really?? it's a subtle one I guess. correct view vs. neutral. whatev. yaaaa Schzzly 03:57, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A "correct POV" excludes all opposing POVs, while a "neutral POV" includes some opposing POVs. If you believe your POV is neutral, you are likely to include some opposing POVs, but in a restricted sense.

My Point of View should be POV not NPOV[edit]

Anon user 67.68.199.46 claimed in an edit summary: (everyone knows that My Point Of View is almost always abbreviated as "NPOV" (the rest of the time, it's abbreviated as "CONSENSUS")) http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Megalomaniacal_point_of_view&oldid=297229. This is nonsense. I have reverted the change made and invite discussion. -- Paleorthid 23:10, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikikooks[edit]

I would like to propose this term to refer to those who actually did the last two things (reproduced below)

  • Launching an arbcom case against the Arbitration Committee
  • Producing a website solely and exclusively about the evils of Wikipedia

Additional Symptom of MPOV[edit]

I propose the additional symptom be added to the article to indicate MPOV.

  • If you complain that admins are on power trips. Especially if the complaint is made against multiple admins.
