Talk:Movement Strategy/Events/Movement Charter Global Conversation, 26-27 June 2021/Movement Strategy Global Events Telegram group report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Thanks for this summary Quim. Do you need to be the sole editor of this summary, or is it a wiki anyone can edit? Or, how to fill the open gaps? Could you include consent decision making as one of the ideas to move ahead? Ad Huikeshoven (talk) 07:09, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ad Huikeshoven The report has a banner that says "Contributions welcome!". :) Feel free to edit the report as you see fit. Qgil-WMF (talk) 11:30, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Centralization of discussion[edit]

Hi Quim. I like your attempt to centralize the discussion. As I found out, the discussion has spread to many pages on meta. A previous attempt to centralize discussion was to create redirects to Talk:Movement Charter. That discussion was more about the ratification process, which should start from the initial drafting. Anyway, I added my two cents to the page, including ideas I picked up from others in the past days in the Telegram channel. What I see is people willing to debate ad nauseam in the Telegram channel, or in hosted and facilitated video calls, both Global and Local conversations, but only a fex who try to summarize. LiAnna did summarize a part, you did here. Maybe the time has come to privately and selectively invite a diverse group of people who have shown willingness to positively and constructively cooperate, and start an open, iterative and consultative process, to collect and process feedback on increments of draft texts. Not on Telegraph, but an additional written-up proposal[edit]

Not being on Telegram (as I find it inherently disadvantages those who want discussion on-wiki) some of this is new to me, but seeing a few common strands, I've attempted to use them to give both a tweaked version of my structure that was discussed in the last Zoom call, as well as a second proposal that at least attempts to give a concrete(ish) example to those interested in the regional groupings method. These can be found at Movement Charter Drafting Committee proposal

The latter looks like it would be a real pain to do, but would have some significant ancillary benefits, and I'd advise it worth looking at just for thoughts it encourages on the idea in general.

The former I believe is the best compromise for Community buy-in and diverse expertise and participation Nosebagbear (talk) 23:49, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
