Talk:Revolution of 2016

Many thanks![edit]

Thank you Millosh for the idea, and all the hard work, of getting this page started. Very worthwhile project, I hope it will help many Wikimedians on the edges of these issues to understand what is going on. I will try to pitch in; for now, just reading and fiddling with details. -Pete F (talk) 22:11, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Take your topic and add the content[edit]

Please, find the thread (on wikimedia-l or post and comments on Wikipedia Weekly Facebook page) you want to cover, sign that you've taken it and put the sticker Doing...; once you finished it, put Done there. As topics will expand, anyone noticing it, should change Done with More More. Feel free to add missing or new threads as they appear (or if they've been missed); if nothing relevant for this subject inside of particular thread, strikeout it with a signed comment (if you find stricken out threads useful, feel free to incorporate them, as well).

Board reform/board composition/stateholder representation[edit]

There's quite a bit about board reform/board composition but I'm still mulling over the best subject heading. Board composition is a special subset of Stateholder representation, while board reform encompasses more than composition. Maybe shouldn't get too hung up on a title, but I'm trying to think through the right scope for the section.--Sphilbrick (talk) 04:16, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I took a first stab at this. I didn't pick up all relevant posts in the thread - I wanted to see how it would turn out.--Sphilbrick (talk) 22:36, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Per comments here Revolution_of_2016/Stakeholder_representation, I think it is important to clarify where we are right now and that is that we have 10 appointed seats.

I would be supportive of having 4 or 5 elected seats and then having the founder stand election like the others. To have elected seats we need to become a membership organization though. And would also need to put in place community mechanisms to remove elected members. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:05, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Addressing paid editing[edit]

We had a fairly large discussion regarding paid editing here.
