Seems reasonable. · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 12:03, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like the first step towards putting together an intranet for a functioning, real life organization of real life people. Needs details for determining what's public, what requires a logon, how to ensure that PII about volunteers is handled by paid staff bound by confidentiality agreements, what belongs on an internal "wiki messaging" system, etc. Oliveleaf4 (talk) 23:24, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Connecting people with capacities[edit]

I think the idea is good, but I am afraid this will be yet another place with discussions log in, ect. Could it be some kind of a wiki community led project like wikidata, wikipedia, and then a kind of Wikicapacity? Then it could easily be linked to other projects, to wikidata. Because such a thing needs to be accesible to people of the community very easily and in their own language. So if a data base is set up, I would rather prefer it to be wikidata based becaused it is directly translatable. From what I read I am afraid it will remain something hosted only by the WMF staff, and I think in fine, such a project needs to be developped on a wiki, and be made available across the movement on the projects.Nattes à chat (talk) 07:08, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Our current thinking here is that this platform will be hosted and curated centrally, but not by the WMF (see our recommendation 10). Staff would support users in finding stuff. and yes, agreed, Wikibase would be the first instrument to look at for the database. Makes sense especially if we want to link to other databases and resources. thanks!--Nicola Zeuner (WMDE) (talk) 09:45, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

From Catalan Salon[edit]

Metawiki with a phone call center. Do We need staff/human support for Capacity Building? (...)

Databases[edit]

This recommendation is one of three that proposes establishing databases for internal Wikimedia information, along with the recommendations for databases for details of partnerships and barriers to editing. Open questions:

  • Should these three databases be stored together or separately?
  • Where should they be stored? The third recommendation suggests on Wikidata. Given that these are about documenting Wikimedia, running Wikibase on Meta-Wiki might be a better choice.
