Talk:WMCS Edits Dashboard

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Suggestions[edit]

@SSethi (WMF): Thanks for this very interesting dashboard! Here are few suggestions:

  • Could you add a checkbox to unselect all the wikis? If I want to only see frwiki, I have to find all currently selected ones in the huge list and uncheck them manually.
  • Could you add a link to git repo(s), where commits can be suggested?
  • How is it possible to have the ratio between total edits on a wiki and the one made from WMCS? Having the value would be useful rather than letting the user manually calculating this from the numbers present in "total_edits" column and total number of revisions made on a wiki.
  • (phab:T240049) On tabular view, could you add sorting feature when user click on column header? Like what is available on Quarry [1]

Framawiki, the user interface for this report is provided by wikitech:Analytics/Systems/Dashiki. I think that all of the feature requests other than the possibly the edit ratio are actually feature requests for Dashiki rather than this particular usage of Dashiki. phab:tag/analytics-dashiki is probably the best place to submit feature requests.

How is it possible to have the ratio between total edits on a wiki and the one made from WMCS?

I am not understanding this question, perhaps you could find a different way to phrase it? The 'total_edits' column of the tabular report is the total number of edits made to a particular wiki during the time period measured. The 'wmcs_edits' column is the total number of edits made to the same wiki which the check user data shows as coming from an IP address that belongs to a Cloud VPS project (including Toolforge). The 'wmcs_percent' column is the ratio of wmcs_edits to total_edits expressed as a percentage. --BDavis (WMF) (talk) 04:57, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi BDavis (WMF), thanks for your rapid answer! This last wmcs_percent is then exactly the metric that I was looking for. I mistakenly thought it was the number of changes made on a wiki via wmcs compared to all the changes coming out from wmcs. --Framawiki (talk) 11:27, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Framawiki Thanks for your suggestions! To your first comment about unselecting all the wikis–in the "Edit Timeseries" view, if you click on "(only)" next to "frwiki", all other wikis will be automatically unselected. SSethi (WMF) (talk) 08:25, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your answer SSethi (WMF). So the only left item is the one with an existing task --Framawiki (talk) 20:01, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
