Talk:Wikidata/Preventing unwanted edits

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

should have been asked before[edit]

The longer I think about this question, the more clearly becomes to me the following: This question would have had to be cleared before the beginning of the programming to adapt whole ones the structure in it. Now the question should be discussed, after struktur is ready - this is the wrong order for the whole consideration! Dr.cueppers (talk) 14:03, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We've obviously thought about this already long ago. This is us getting additional input and ideas we have not thought about previously. And no it's not too late ;-) We can still make changes/add features if they are good. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 14:46, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The wiki way[edit]

The whole concept of "preventing unwanted edits" is contrary to the basic principle of "the wiki way," which is that one should make bad edits easy to correct rather than hard to make. Learn from Nupedia! Leucosticte (talk) 04:19, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That is included and preferred of course. Bad name... Sorry. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 05:36, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I notice it says that this page is for "brainstorming." Most texts I've read about brainstorming say that it involves coming up with and writing down a bunch of ideas without criticism; the criticism stage comes later. So, is it too early to begin debating these ideas? I wrote a little essay, IP editing, about the IP edit restriction proposal. Thanks. Leucosticte (talk) 14:04, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to add it :) --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 07:58, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
