Talk:Wikimedia Apps
Add topicCommons app has been discontinued
[edit]The Commons app (both Android and iOS) is no longer considered "official": https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/mobile-l/2014-September/007974.html
So I guess it should be removed from this table.
The Commons apps still exist, but as non-official: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Mobile_app

One Wikimedia app
[edit]The mailing list seems inactive so I guess this is the best place to ask. Has anyone considered one Wikimedia app that would serve all Wikimedia wikis? It seems weird to have offshoots for each project, and we see apps come and go unfortunately.
While I'm here, I noticed that the description page mentions a Wiktionary app (various Wikimedia projects (Commons, Wikipedia, Wiktionary) but I think it is inactive.
Also, it there are reason why iOS apps are under-represented? Could be a resources issue I guess, or is it a proprietary code issue? Commander Keane (talk) 04:13, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe this Phabricator (declined) task is related to what you are suggesting here? https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T165495 Diegodlh (talk) 21:39, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
