I'd love to help create such a wiki, and could really get quite excited about such a project.....! all comments most welcome; - Privatemusings 04:49, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The most important think to do is to contact some Aboriginal people in various places who are in a position to help drive it forward. It is crucial that Aboriginal people take ownership of this Project. As I suggested on the mailing list I will ask some Aboriginal friends in the Territory to see whether they can suggest people who might be interested. We need a similar approach to people in Queensland and Western Australia at least. --Bduke 12:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I echo Bduke here, almost to the point of saying it is inappropriate for white fellas to start such a project. I would love to see more Australian Aboriginal content, however there are many Aboriginal languages, and to be honest, most are so small in population of native speakers that they wouldnt support a dedicated project. Please do not go getting all energetic about this and possibly giving people false hope. John Vandenberg 08:01, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good day, I see that page is inactive, but if anybody has it in its watchlist and still interested, I'd like to inform you of the creation of Wikimedia Indigenous Languages to support such initiatives. Amqui (talk) 21:01, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
