Talk:Wikimedia CEE Spring 2018/Rules

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

exactly 100 articles in exactly 10 categories[edit]

@Spiritia, Papuass, Braveheart, Magalia, Masti, Strainu, and Wittylama: I have found the rule that articles should be created in exactly 10 categories. However, I fail to find these categories. In different places I find different sets of categories:

  • Wikimedia CEE Spring 2018/Participants: 16 categories, namely Agriculture, Culture, Education, Economics, History, Medicine, Nature / Geography, Nature reserves, Politics, Science, Society, Sports, Technology / IT, Transport / Infrastructure, Women
  • Wikimedia CEE Spring 2018/Timeline: 11 categories, namely Politics, Sports, Food, Architecture, Nature, Education, History, Music / Eurovision, Science, Literature, Culture.

I am somewhat confused on what these exactly 10 categories should be, could you please clarify? Thanks — NickK (talk) 11:24, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NickK! The rules page is a leftover from last year and hasn't been adapted yet, the participants page is the actual valid guideline when it comes to creating the list.
The timeline is just a narrative at what we're focussing on each week, and doesn't affect the article list at all (at least in my mind). Braveheart (talk) 13:44, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Braveheart: Thank you for your answer. Do we keep the 100-article requirement as well or is it dropped? It does not seem to be respected in any case (Belarus has 432 and Estonia has 367, for instance). Thanks — NickK (talk) 14:16, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It still should be around 100 articles, depending on local specifica, but as I said it should be in that range (+/- 50). Belarus and Estonia have way too many, thanks for pointing that out. Braveheart (talk) 14:47, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Braveheart: I have not checked all countries, so could anyone from the organising team please check them? I just remember these two countries already had way too many last year but there were also a few (Kazakhstan and someone else) — NickK (talk) 15:01, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
We'll do that tonight :-) Braveheart (talk) 16:26, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
