Start workshops for advocates???[edit]

I've started researching this idea and have put together a My draft outreach and training list and a draft sample intro workshop. As I say at latter, this would be about making it easier and faster for advocates to become a "Wikipedia first" editor even if they initially come for advocacy reasons. (And that doing so will make them more effective editor, even in any advocacy.) Obviously DC is chock full of advocates who are busy editing away - and often disrupting. If we can't get the disrupters there, at least we can more sensible people there who can learn effective tools to edit and deal with conflict. I'll be at Saturday edit-a-thon if anyone wants to discuss idea. Carolmooredc 15:44, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This all looks great! :) We need to be doing training and if you can take the lead, that's great. Let me know what help you need. Cheers Aude 17:37, 13 December 2011 (UTC) (PS - see you Saturday!)[reply]

Update: Have made a more definitive workshop outline for January 14th workshop at User:Carolmooredc/Sandbox_1. As I write there:
Temporary Note to DC Wikipedia Outreach people: really just a regular workshop with special emphasis on controlling one’s own POV and dispute resolution. Continuing to work on this, particularly with adding links to all linkable policies, tools, etc. Feel free to comment on this page's talk page. I can use this page for the first workshop. If it works out we can use it as a basis for a one day workshop that we can create a separate page for on Wikimedia_District_of_Columbia/Local_outreach.
Note the draft workshop's talk page is where I put the first draft, now deleted and moved. See my aside on starting a music video wikipedia youtube page. :-) Carolmooredc 15:19, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just beefed up main page with some good outreach and training links. I also put up a draft of my workshop, complete with links at One Day Wikipedia Training Workshop on wikimediadc.org, per advice from "Aude." :-). I'm going to use it as the basis of the Saturday workshop, so please discuss any proposed changes or just make minor improvements for now. We then all can contribute to a more final version, ones which people can tweak to fulfill their needs. Carolmooredc 17:30, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
