Talk:Wikimedia Fellowships/Project Ideas/Identifying barriers to participation from heavy internet users

Other populations[edit]

Can you say how your research might also apply to other populations? Might you also be creating survey tools or a research system which would be a model for converting heavy internet users in any demographic to becoming Wikipedia users? Blue Rasberry (talk) 20:41, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Declining for fellowship at this time[edit]

Although it's an interesting idea, the Fellowship Program will be passing on the project in this round. Several barriers to participation in Wikipedia are already fairly well understood, and although this research is likely to uncover other local issues and attitudes, with limited fellowship slots available right now we're focusing on projects with the most potential for actionable, direct impact. I strongly encourage the proposer and other potential collaborators to continue to develop your ideas and become more directly involved with the Wikimedia community before reapplying for either a fellowship in subsequent application rounds, or for a Wikimedia Grant in collaboration with Wikimedia Chile. You might also look into other opportunities for connection with the Wikimedia Research community. Best of luck! Siko Bouterse (WMF) (talk) 20:26, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
