Members of the Board of Trustees and staff of the Wikimedia Foundation,

Please WMF Board of Trustees grant control of the WMF Board elections to the Wikimedia community, especially to the two existing committees. The Wikimedia community can manage its own values and ethics and has no need of non-volunteer, non-community members to assist with the fundamentals of designing the election.

On behalf of the ASBS committee I request you

  • remove the "problems to solve" section from that page,
  • remove the "ideas discussed with the board" section from that page,
  • remove the 8 subpages with "ideas"
  • include a section with words like:

"The Board asks the Election committee and ASBS election facilitators to work together to set up a process, define rules, and hold a (s)election process for six community- and affiliate sourced board seats. The board asks the joined committee to pay respect to the strategic direction of the Wikimedia Movement and the strategy recommendations. The board would like to welcome a diversity of candidates. The board oversees an organization with an annual budget over one hundred million dollaras and a staff of over 500 people. The board would like to welcome candidates with governance experience in non-profit organizations of the same magnitude."

The ASBS election facilitators published their debrief of lessons learned in 2019.[1] We as a committee are committed to act upon them. The ASBS committee is prepared to collaborate with the standing election committee for this process.[2] <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections_committee>

Reports[edit]

On the page I read "On the next day (or so), expect Video recordings available on Commons and YouTube A report Full automatic transcript". The Office Hours were a week ago. Where can I find these recordings, can you post some links please? Ad Huikeshoven (talk) 14:40, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ad Huikeshoven I'm sorry, I miscalculated the effort of publishing all the pieces of the three office hours' report while keeping the rest of activities of the call for feedback. Everything will be published tomorrow during the GMT morning. Next time we will publish videos an the rest of material separately as soon as we have them. The materials for each meeting have been published, and the summary is being published in a few meetings. I have the three videos being converted at https://video2commons.toolforge.org/, and it is taking a long time. I think it is the first time I use this service. Next time I should probably just convert the videos locally. Anyway, as soon as they are converted I will upload them to Commons. They will make it to YouTube as well. [After hours] video2commons processed the videos of the 2nd and 3rd meeting (which have been published) but failed with the first: An exception occurred: TaskError: pywikibot.Error: APIError: stashfailed: Internal error: Server failed to publish temporary file. I have restarted the process. Let's see what do I find tomorrow morning. Qgil-WMF (talk) 21:58, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Qgil-WMF: Thank you for uploading the recordings and posting the notes. Quick question: Was any of the dialog removed from the recording? If there were parts removed, are they present in the transcript? --Yair rand (talk) 09:50, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@[User:Yair rand|Yair rand]] We have only removed our own introductions of people and the CfF because it was information available in the wiki. The Q&A of the official time of the office hour should be there, complete. Then there was the extra time, "for casual chat", when we stopped the recording. We haven't captured that either. If anyone misses anything important please bring it in, and we will include it as feedback in a way or another. Qgil-WMF (talk) 10:01, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
