Comment on the Report[edit]

Permit me to add a few comments, which don't seem to adequately reflect in the above:

  • An overall and efficient Wikipedia system is more important than just focussing on the election system, in my view.
  • At present, it becomes rather difficult to vote for suitable Wikipedia representatives. This is a global community. If I am asked to selected 10 candidates, of whom eight names don't ring a bell, or can't be recognised by me (because of the size and diverse nature of the movement), is my decision a fair one?
  • As noted above, my point is that we need not elect "people like us" to the governing system. What we need is fair-minded, well-intentioned and skilled people who can do justice to their job, regardless of ethnicity or diversity or lack of it.
  • As of now, my despair is over the fact that "issues from the South/Third World" are often not understood by those in decision-making process. This is an issue of sensitivity, not ethnicity. It is very tough in mainly-oral societies to find written/textual/online references and citations, specially in non-English languages. A lot of deserving entries from the "South/Third World" get deleted in my experience, because the Admin from the North cannot understand what we are talking about or focussing on. How do we correct this situation? This is not about representation or ethnicity, it is about fairness.
  • As of now, the redressal mechanisms seem to be week, as far as I can understand. If a deserving noted techie's well-crafted entry on the Wikipedia from my region gets deleted, what is the "court of appeal"? The Wikipedia seems to be getting hit by deletionism, and we are the worst hit. No amount of changing the electoral system is going to help this, afaicsi (as far as I can see it). Please consder these issues. Thank you! Fredericknoronha (talk) 13:17, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
