the term "emerging"[edit]

I appreciate the term "emerging" more than "underdeveloped" but the question is, emerging (and developing) into what--into what values in the larger systems? Many Indigenous nations are not looking to merge into the dominant political and economic systems; they are working to preserve their own ways, values, and to fight on-going efforts to colonize them. I raise this not as a critique of you at all. The term caught my eye, as it does in any other venue, "emerging markets" for example, so I thought to mention it here. --172.101.47.207 04:15, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Specifically here I mean 'emerging' within Wikimedia, not necessarily with other systems. I acknowledge your point about indigenous nations: in general I think opportunities should be there much more than they currently are, but it of course needs to be up to the community itself to decide what to do.
