Talk:Wikimedia User Group Nigeria/Membership

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Poor membership outreach[edit]

Greetings all.

I want to make a complaint about the manner of coordination of Nigerian Wikimedia editors by way of reaching out to them personally via their talk pages or via a social media communication channel like on Telegram. I realize there seems to be no real functional WM Nigeria User Group channel on Telegram. Why is it so? If this is truly a Nigerian branch of the main body, all groups of Wiki users from across the country should be integrated by personal invitations and making the group's activities published on Telegram as the main international WMF groups actively operate. It was out of curiosity that I discovered the WikiProject Nigeria, so also many others I suppose. Thanks for the redesigning work on that page. Just for the records, a sister project is to be add soon, the Tyap Language edition of Wikipedia. Gungbe Wikipedia went live earlier in March 2022. We hope to have other languages from across Nigeria added, in addition to the Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and Fulfulde versions of Wikipedia, to reach out to people from the Middle Belt and Niger Delta as well. Thanks for taking time to read through. Best regards, Kambai Akau (talk) 16:52, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
