Talk:Wikimedia budget/2005/Q4/promo

Mail in the US is $0.37. Mail to anywhere outside the US costs considerably more. We are so far behind in thanking donors that we must do what we can to remedy the situation and ensure that they contribute again. That means thank you notes, printed, with envelopes. All of that is an additional expense. Since I will be doing all of this, I would like to see this line item increased significantly. Mailings alone will cost c. $5,000. I don't think all donors are expecting a thank you note, especially if they reallized it would cost that much to send them. Perhaps only send one to large donors, and figure out what the cutoff for large is by shooting for the budget for thank you cards and stamps to be more like $100.
What I actually came to say is why do we have $3,000 budgeted for promotional materials? That $3,000 had to come from people's donations, and the project isn't having any trouble drawing traffic. We need to solicit big donations perhaps, but not spend money on promotional materials. - Taxman 19:15, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
