Newly upload images allowed?[edit]

@T Cells: I need clarification: are newly free uploaded images (ie. uploaded during 1 July and 31 August) allowed? Thanks. --Horus (talk) 11:45, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Horus. They are allowed. Regards. T CellsTalk 12:22, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Horus:, how are you doing? When do you plan to start the WPWP activities in your community? Regards. T CellsTalk 08:28, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@T Cells:} I have advertised the program on Facebook page, and the Wikipedia banner is up, but I have not seen any hashtag in the recent changes. Do you have any suggestion to increase participation? --Horus (talk) 08:32, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Horus did you follow the instructions here? You do need to engage members of your community. Did you inform them via the Wikimedia Thailand's mailing list and other channels of communication? T CellsTalk 18:25, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We have not set up local mailing list yet. I will bring this idea back to the community. --Horus (talk) 05:04, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good. Please let me know how I can help you. Regards. T CellsTalk 08:39, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Petscan is confusing[edit]

I'm an experienced editor, and I've tried using the Petscan. Honestly it returns articles that already have photos in them and requires some fiddling around with to get results (you have to set the categories to "1" or "2" to get a listing)... It's not a user friendly tool and it will scare the newbies off. I've tried using it and gave up, just easier to go from a list/category of photos and try to fit them into articles. @Oaktree b:, I am sorry to learn about your difficulties with using the PetScan. Could you take a look at the WDWP tool? It's a new tool developed for the WPWP. It has an index of articles with missing images in certain languages. T CellsTalk 08:26, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I gave it a quick try before work this morning, I like it! I'll get more done using it later today. Thanks for this!Oaktree b (talk) 20:25, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am happy you liked it. Regards. T CellsTalk 08:40, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can changes be seen[edit]

What changes can be seen after saving the edit on the article or elsewhere? Shagil Kannur (talk) 19:18, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Inserting Templates[edit]

I thought about inserting an infobox into pages that have no photo. If I insert a correct infobox , e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_person, there will be a whole block with lots of details and a PHOTO inserted. But, in most of the infobox types a "photo description" field is not included. As a result, the photo is there, inside a template, but there is no photo description and no easy way to add it.

Question 1: will such an edit be tracked? An appeared image inside a template block. (yes, I use the hashtag).

Question 2: will such an edit be ignored? Based on the reason that a template usually doesn't include image/photo description, so the the formal requirement "add a proper description" wasn't fulfilled.

Thank you in advance! Nikolay Komarov (talk) 21:43, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bots & Photos[edit]

I have two questions regarding rules:

  • Can bots be used?
  • Do the files have to be photos? Do illustrations, videos or audio files count?
