Venetian - Vèneto[edit]

Questionnaire[edit]

Contributors[edit]

  • Wikimedia Statistics can be difficult to interpret. What is your impression, how many steady contributors do you have?
I think a contributor stays one-two years and then he/she leaves. Now we are about 3 regular and other 3-4 occasional contributors. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Are your contributors mostly native speakers?
Yes, I never heard about someone who learned Venetian. Maybe an immigrant who lives many years in a Venetian community. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Where do your contributors live (regions/country)?
Most of we live in north-east Italy (Veneto and near regions), but I heard about Venetians immigrants' descendings in South America. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
  • How common is it that your contributors meet in real life?
I never met with Wikipedians and the community is made by less than 10 people, so it's hard. But this could be an interesting idea. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

Other Wikipedias[edit]

  • Do you have special contacts with other Wikipedias (maybe in related languages)?
We have a cooperation project with the other Italy languages' projects, but often we contact other Wikipedians here, in Meta. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Do you translate a lot from other Wikipedias? Which ones?
Very often from it.wiki, because all (more less) we know Italian and they have got enough articles those we don't have got. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

Organization and support[edit]

  • Is there a Wikimedia chapter in your country? How does your language relate to it?
  • Are there work groups in other organizations about Wikipedia?

Your Wikipedia and the linguistic community[edit]

  • Is there a language institution for your language, like an Academy, or a club of people interested in your language? Do you have contact with them?
Unfortunately not. But from some years Veneto region cares about the language. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Who (else) supports you?
  • What does the public outreach for your edition look like? Do you have flyers, give lectures, training etc.?
  • Do you get feedback from readers?
Not much, because people who know our Wikipedia aren't many. But we guess that we're going to be very known. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
  • What other encyclopedias exist in your language?

Content[edit]

  • Does your edition concentrate on certain topics, like your region and language, or Latin Wikipedia on Roman history and Christianity?
Yes, we've got many articles about Republic of Venice's history and about our lands. It.wiki doesn't have got some of those. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Did your edition enjoy text donations, for example from older encyclopedias?

Language[edit]

  • Is there a generally accepted norm about your language (spelling, dictionary, pronunciation)?
Yes, we can always easily find a norm. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
  • How do you deal with different spellings, dialects etc. (like B.E. lift and A.E. elevator)?
Yes, Venetian isn't a precise language, we have got the varianse (variations), some different dialects. Luckily by some habit understand everybody is quite easy. --Tn4196 (talk) 12:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
