Translatable text not showing up[edit]

@Quiddity (WMF) I have translated the file on commons, and the file on meta. It seems the file on meta won't switch languages in the expected way while the one on commons do. Possibly a setting in the svg-file itself? -- Abuluntu (đŸ‘šđŸŒâ€đŸ’»đŸ’Ź) 06:49, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Abuluntu There should only be one file on Commons; not one here on Meta. File:Community Wishlist Survey banner - translatable.svg is a mirrored page from Commons. Anyway, it seems some translations got wiped out when someone uploaded an older version of the file. Additionally, the SVG is shown in the page language, not interface language. So while I see in the source your Norwegian translation is there in the source code, you won't see it in the image because we don't have a Norwegian page yet at Community Wishlist Survey 2022/no. There is a Norwegian BokmÄl page, which now shows your translation that I just re-added. Best, MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 20:31, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Error in svg file[edit]

@Quiddity (WMF) – I tried to translate the banner on Toolforge, but it gives an error message that says “Multiple text elements found with language code 'az-latn' (in element with ID '').” and wouldn’t let me translate it. Is this something you or someone else at WMF can look into? Al12si (talk) 00:45, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@SWilson (WMF) You might know the answer to this, as the first uploader for the image at c:File:Community Wishlist Survey banner - translatable.svg.
I get the same error as Al12si, as soon as I paste "Community Wishlist Survey banner - translatable.svg" into https://svgtranslate.toolforge.org/
Note: From the File's page history, it seems like the latest translation didn't use the Toolforge tool, which is perhaps what broke it? I'm not familiar enough with SVG markup to attempt to fix. Cheers, Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 01:00, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Al12si and Quiddity (WMF): Thanks for poinging me, this error was actually due to a past bug in SVG Translate (although there was also an issue with the last manual update, that wasn't what the error message was on about). I've removed the duplicate code in the SVG, and it can now be translated with the tool. :-) Let me know of any other issues. SWilson (WMF) (talk) 01:22, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
