Project Scope

Vigyan Ashram is running Introduction to Basic Technology (IBT) or Multi Skill Foundation Course (MSFC) in various schools for integrating socially useful productive work with school curriculum. The design and objectives are -

What is IBT ?

• STEM (Science , Technology , Engineering, Mathematics )Program in School
• Learning While Doing pedagogy in school
• Project based learning
• Students involved in Socially useful productive work (SUPW).
• Community Services – Students providing various services to the community as part of their learning.
• Integration of ‘Work Activity’ with School curriculum

Why IBT ?

• To develop intelligence of a child
• ‘Activity to hand stimulate the intellect’ – Mahatma Gandhi
• To develop creativity, logical thinking, skills, values like dignity of labour, team building, gender equality etc.
• To connect education with the real life problems.

The goal of Wikipedia Workshop is to integrate these objectives with Wikipedia Education Program and develop long term strategies. The other aim is to build resources in the field of Appropriate rural technologies on Marathi Wikipedia and equip its participants with the process of contributing to Wikipedia, and to introduce it as a concept to them. Another focus of the workshop will be on creating village articles.
Total 23 IBT coordinators from 18 schools of 9 districts participated in the workshop.

Project Aim

Primary goals

1. To introduce Wikipedia as an encyclopedia for research and a concept to new editors.
2. To Promote Marathi Wikipedia Community & promote the use of regional languages in Wikipedia.
3. To have an open interaction within the editors, existing as well as new.
4. To spread the awareness of Wikipedia as a powerful tool.
5. To develop articles on gender & environment related issues
