What is the proposed name for the project? Transparent Economy
Proposed project tagline None Yet
Project description
What is the project purpose? What will be its scope? How would it benefit to be part of Wikimedia?
Document verifiable (no original research) and neutral facts about companies and products to help consumers make choices that reflect their economic values. The kind of information should be decided by the community and evolve over time, but here is my initial thinking. For each product, where is it produced, how many workers are there, where do they reside and how well are they paid. For each company, who owns it (other companies), where is it registered, what certifications has it won (e.g. fair-trade, fair-labor, B-certification, etc) by reputable organizations, what standards does it follow and what kind of rating/grade has it obtained.
How many wikis?
Will there be many language versions or just on one multilingual wiki?
One multilingual wiki
How many languages?
Is the project going to be in one language or in many?
Many languages. A company or product page should have a faithful translation into every language for which it has customers/consumers (hopefully all backed by the same semi-structured data).
Proposed project website address
Proposed logo for the project None Yet
Technical requirements
If the project requires any new features that the MediaWiki software currently doesn't have, please describe in detail. Are additional MediaWiki extensions needed for the project?
No new features. If possible, the data should be stored in WikiData.
