About me
I am Aliva Sahoo, a committed social worker and project manager with a deep passion for knowledge sharing, community development, and public welfare. With academic qualifications including a Master’s in Social Work and a Postgraduate degree in Rural Development. Outside of my formal career, my involvement in Wikimedia projects reflects my belief that knowledge is a powerful tool for change. By combining my social work experience with my writing and research skills, I strive to create content that informs, inspires, and empowers. I value honesty, professionalism, and dedication, and I continue to work towards creating a positive impact both online and in real-life communities.

About my work
Since 2016, I have been contributing to Odia wikipedia, Odia Wikisource, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. I began my journey on Wikimedia projects with the vision of making authentic and accessible information available to Odia-speaking communities and beyond. My entry into the Wikimedia world was driven by curiosity, a love for learning, and a commitment to preserving knowledge in my native language. Over time, I have expanded my contributions across multiple Wikimedia platforms, including Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons. I am particularly active in mobile-based contributions, using the Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons apps to create, edit, and enhance articles; update structured data; and upload original photographs. My photography work focuses on capturing cultural heritage, local landmarks, events, and daily life, contributing visual documentation that strengthens the richness of Wikimedia content. I also engage in translation, fact-checking, citation improvement, and content refinement to ensure accuracy and accessibility. By combining mobile technology with my research and creative skills, I help bring underrepresented knowledge to the global stage while making information more engaging and visually impactful for readers.
