I became a librarian because I was a Wikipedian. Coming from a small town with an almost-always-closed public library, Wikipedia was my window to a larger world. When I had the privilege of a good library nearby, my goal was clear: sharing knowledge in the Wikimedia Projects, as others did for me.
My work
In February 2023, I joined the Wikimedia Foundation to work as the Senior Program Officer, Libraries as part of the Content Enablement Team (previously known as Culture & Heritage) which works within Community Programs larger team. From January 2026, I will continue this work as the Lead Strategist, connecting dots across communities, product teams, and content partnerships so that contributing to Wikipedia is more impactful, equitable, and sustainable.
Some hopefully useful resources I've been working on:
Vital Knowledge Research: As part of my Vital Knowledge research, I have created a few resources: this code and a tutorial video to help automate the discovery of structured improvement tasks for Vital articles. It analyzes articles to find missing citations, images, and references and helps prioritize editing work. (A future goal is to make this an on-wiki tool and we're working on an Outreachy internship to get there!).
Disclaimer: I work for or provide services to the Wikimedia Foundation, and this is the account I try to use for edits or statements I make in that role. However, the Foundation does not vet all my activity, so edits, statements, or other contributions made by this account may not reflect the views of the Foundation.
