I originally hail from Bikaner, India. Before joining the Wikimedia Foundation, I was a student researcher at the MIT Media Lab exploring how online platforms for learning could be made more peer-led, engaging, participatory and accessible to diverse populations. At the Media Lab, I contributed to the design, development, and research of Unhangout, a platform for running large-scale unconference style events online.
I support the efforts of the organization to engage volunteer developers in Wikimedia software projects and to grow our technical community.
My work involves coordinating Wikimedia's participation in the mentoring programs such as Google Summer of Code and Outreachy, researching new developers experiences in our community and ways to improve outreach and retention, promoting developer projects through various venues, etc. Here is a list of my tasks on Phabricator: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/people/tasks/8466/
