Learning

[edit]
  • Unique activities helps to get a mention on Government social media accounts and helps in the reach of Wikimedia projects.
  • Working with community leaders helps to organise events in multiple projects.

Follow-up

WikiTungi

[edit]

WikiTungi is a city-based meetup for Wikimedians in Odisha to discuss ideas, activities, collaborations and future plans. CIS-A2K is supporting WikiTungi both financially and in idea-level.

In the last 6 months N numbers of WikiYTungi meetups were conducted. The details of these meetups are:

Date Number of participants Important discussion topic
Example Example Example
Example Example Example
12 November 8 Discussion on expanding Wiktionary project.

We are highlighting one discussion during WikiTungi. On DD Month Year, during the WikiTungi meetup, the participants discussed the follow up after the Odia Wikipedia's 16th anniversary. As Odia Wikipedia was turning 16, community members organised the conference, bringing at least 20 Odia Wikimedians for the conference to discuss and strategize on the growth of the movement. During the Tungi meetup, we did a sprint and brainstorming to write the report of rapid grant. In the previous meetups also, we used the WikiTungi to distribute works among the various members for the Wikipedia conference.

The WikiTungi members also took part in discussing and meetings with the Sports department and the State Crafts museum where CIS-A2K is planning to collaborate in future.

Wikimedians gathered at Odia Wikipedia meetup, Bangalore 2018-07-26

One interesting development we saw in this period was the expansion of WikiTungi outside Odisha. On DAY MONTH YEAR an Odia meetup was conducted in Bangalore, Karnataka. In this meetup, four Odia Wikimedians participated. Some of the topics discussed during the meetup were:

  • How to involve more people with Odia Wikipedia.
  • Make Bangalore Tungi meetings more structured.
  • Discussion on basic challenges.

Follow-up

[edit]
  • We'll do at least one more WikiTungi meetup in Bangalore in the next 6 months
  • We'll try to further expand WikiTungi and expect to conduct 1 WikiTungi meetup in Delhi.

Signing of MoU between CIS and OVA

We are excited that the Government of Odisha showed interest in adopting an Open Content Policy and make information of other departments accessible for the public. After a dialogue with the Government administrators, CIS-A2K submitted a proposal to the Odia Virtual Academy to work on drafting this policy of the state. In October 2018, CIS signed an MoU with the state to draft the policy, work on sustainability of Wikimedia projects and other things.
