Subject: Extension:WSOAuth 2021 news
Hi!
Good news for some private and public MediaWiki websites who want to add a remote login (e.g. a social login).
The MediaWiki extension WSOAUth [1] now supports a modern self-approval login flow.
In short:
* now already-existing users can have a local nickname different from the remote site
* now already-existing users do not need the intervention of a server administrator to use OAuth
This makes the WSOAuth extension particularly easy to integrate, also for big existing wikis.
== Troubleshooting ==
Q: I'm trying the WSOAUth extension in my wiki but during OAuth login I get "the username xxx is already taken". What?
A: Just do a local login, Preferences, and authorize remote login.
In this way the wiki know it's you.
== Thanks ==
* thanks to Marijn van Wezel, lead developer of the WSOAuth extension
* thanks to DannyS712 for code review
* thanks to Ilario Valdelli (WMCH) for support
* thanks to Wikimedia CH for support and adoption
Available for any clarification about this new feature in the WSOAuth extension,
