This blows my mind. Do you realize that your figure matches almost precisely the Emijrp's estimate of what percentage of notable topics are already covered? — Yerpo Eh? 06:09, 22 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hey Yerpo. I just got back from the holidays and saw your message. If User:Emijrp estimates that we have articles for 5% of notable topics and we've finished 5% of the articles we've started, that means it's going to take something like 5000 more years to finish Wikipedia. Yikes! --EpochFail (talk) 23:55, 3 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I know the criterion you used is not really comparable, but the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, so I wouldn't be that pessimistic. I think that it isn't even theoretically possible to write featured articles on the majority of topics (numerically speaking) because there just isn't enough information about them. For example a huge number of insect species for which we have anatomical description, locality where the type specimen was collected and not much else. So a short stub would be enough for completeness if the goal is to gather all human knowledge. — Yerpo Eh? 06:27, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

That lowercase though... --Elitre (talk) 09:28, 2 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
