Supplementary messages
[edit]Hello Yerpo.
I noticed that you translated the fundraiser's core messages into Slovenščina (sl), thank you for your help! Although the fundraiser is over, your translation work will still be used until next November (when we get new forms).
Unfortunately, there are some missing messages and pages that were not included in the original request. Would you mind translating these supplementary messages too?
Thanks for your help, and please feel free to leave a message on m:Talk:Fundraising 2009/supplementary messages if you have any questions! Az1568 (talk) 19:40, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'll see what (and when) I can do, hope there's no rush. Yerpo 13:04, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
New weights
[edit]My name is Paucabot and I'm from catalan wikipedia. I would like to congratulate you for your work in Talk:List of Wikipedias by sample of articles#One thought about weights. It seems to me a very reasonable improve of the way of counting article length.
However, there is a feeling in catalan Wikipedia (as you can see in ca:Viquiprojecte Discussió:Els 1.000#New weights) that there is a conspiracy to steal catalan first position in this ranking. They say that every change done in the list damages catalan position (and that is true). But that is this way because we have not a complete wikipedia, and every change in some articles lowers our score. If this change is approved, we will have to extend nearly 400 articles to reach to our previous score. But while others keep thinking about conspiracies, I can see all of this is because of the fragility (or, in the case of error in weights, wrongness) of our first position.
Thank you for your work. Paucabot 16:34, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your message. I didn't realize that Catalan editors take this measure so strictly. — Yerpo Eh? 17:02, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi
[edit]Pozdrav, someone has messed up with the wikidata, (exactly on January 8th), on this one article (one on the list). So, many of wikis appears to have this article as absent (I'm working on bs.wiki, and this 1 missing article in fact exist). It's not big problem but is it appropriate to update your tables now or wait to the February lists? Srdačan pozdrav iz Sarajeva. --C3r4 (talk) 08:55, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the notice. The same problem was last month with en:Musa (genus) (d:Q8666090) / en:Banana (d:Q503). It just has to be accepted that the output can be vulnerable to Wikidata changes. The scripts takes two days to run so I think it's better to wait.
- PS: odgovorio sam na engleskom da mogu i drugi da razumeju. Pozdrav u Sarajevo :) — Yerpo Eh? 12:40, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right. Anyway, just to notice that changes in Wikidate can have some (minor) influence in result. You're doing good job. Također pozdrav v Sloveniju. ;)--C3r4 (talk) 16:06, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Me again :) We have again one situation. On en.wiki they swapped d:Q613 and d:Q612. I don't know will it be changed on list of 1000 too? (Opet nas .... znaš več šta, jer je kod nas to mali članak a kod vas ga nema).--C3r4 (talk) 14:51, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
- This distinction is stupid, IMO, even the article en:Dubai (the one connected with Q612) which is supposed to be about the city treats them as synonyms. I'd just leave the situation with the list like it is, it will only affect :enwiki's score anyway. — Yerpo Eh? 15:01, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

5 may 2015
[edit]Hi! I think last update is wrong. In list of absent articles for Bashkir language there are some already existing articles. For example enzyme (ba:Ферменттар), Malnutrition (ba:Ашап еткермәү), Glycine max (ba:Соя), sugars (ba:Шәкәр) and others. --Rg102 18:41, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
- It appears that the script didn't detect those articles somehow. I ran it again and fixed the output, thanks for the note. — Yerpo Eh? 05:40, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! --Rg102 06:31, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
lost Belarusian score
[edit]Dear Yerpo, with this update, the highest score (+5.38 at 8.03.15) of Belarusian Wikipedia was lost. Please, restore it. --Дзяніс Тутэйшы (talk) 09:47, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- Agh, thanks for noticing, I'll fix it right away. I'm having some problems with that part of the script. — Yerpo Eh? 18:25, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for maintaining of all this :). These ratings are very helpful for quality improving. --Дзяніс Тутэйшы (talk) 22:10, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Inspire Campaign on content curation & review
[edit]
I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.
All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:38, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Update
[edit]Hi Yerpo. Thanks for your work on Tech/Server switch 2016/sl. Ops has decided to do this at 14:00 UTC, instead of 07:00 UTC. Could you update the translation? I added the new times yesterday, but I didn't invalidate the previous translations, so you'll need to look for the sentence in the already "Translated" section (not the "Outdated" section). I believe that there here have been a couple of smaller changes since the last time you looked at it. Thanks, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:14, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
Done — Yerpo Eh? 20:20, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.
Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,

Error
[edit]Hi. Here is an error. There are honorable mentions. But 1st place in September 2016 has be.wikipedia.org, not be-tarask.wikipedia.org. --Artificial123 (talk) 08:05, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Fixed, thanks for noticing. — Yerpo Eh? 11:59, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- One more question. Can you find the biggest grow of be.wikipedia.org? I remember it was in 2015, almost 10.50, but I don't see that in list. Thank you. --Artificial123 (talk) 12:27, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- You're right, I returned the missing score. I had some problems with the script that was "eating up" table entries, so there may be some other achievements missing for other languages. — Yerpo Eh? 08:14, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
No renaming between November 20 and November 27
[edit]Hi,
You’re getting this because you’re a steward or global renamer. The Community Tech team are working on cross-wiki watchlists. We need to add a couple of fields to the localuser table in centralauth database. In order to be able to do this, we’d need to run a script that will get in the way of renaming users. Our apologies – we realize this is getting in the way of your work.
We ask that you do not rename anyone between 00:00 November 20 (UTC) and 00:00 November 27 (UTC).
(UTC means that if you live in the Americas, it will be on the evening or afternoon of November 19 when the script starts running, and if you live in Oceania or eastern Asia, it can be closer midday on November 27 before we can be sure the script is no longer running.)
If there are any problems related to this, or you have any questions, please write me on my talk page. /Johan (WMF) (talk) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:42, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
Question
[edit]Hello. I've used this code to see the result of be.wikipedia.org. But when I've contributed and the result might change, that didn't. Can you see what's the problem? --Artificial123 (talk) 05:57, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi again. :bewiki's score increased in the past month, so it's difficult to guess what happened when you ran the script. What exactly did you contribute? — Yerpo Eh? 07:26, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- I've contributed here, here, here, here, here and here. --Artificial123 (talk) 10:18, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- Only be:Вільгельм Рыхард Вагнер and be:Матэматыка would count as expanded, because others already counted as long before that. Did you run the script yesterday or earlier? — Yerpo Eh? 10:31, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- I ran it today. --Artificial123 (talk) 11:11, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

- I've contributed here, here, here, here, here and here. --Artificial123 (talk) 10:18, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- One more question. The are Neglected articles in Belarusian. I see Нагіб Махфуз and number 29360 with it. What does that mean? Isn't that number of wiki-symbols? --Artificial123 (talk) 11:31, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- It's a character count, yes, multiplied by 1.4. At a time when I ran the script, the article had that many characters. Now it has more, so it should count as long when I run the script next month. Actually, by the same logic it should increase the score you got today as well (like be:Вільгельм Рыхард Вагнер and be:Матэматыка), I didn't check well. So I don't know exactly what happened with your results. — Yerpo Eh? 12:00, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- If I send you text of cutted script, can you see, what the problem? --Artificial123 (talk) 13:25, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- I doubt that I'll be able to find the problem with just the script. Try the person who wrote it. — Yerpo Eh? 12:13, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

List of Wikipedias by sample of articles
[edit]Hello. Could You please correct all the links from «be-x-old» to «be-tarask» in the script (or whatever) which updates List of Wikipedias by sample of articles and all the subpages? As soon as we have our domain changed for a long time ago. --Renessaince (talk) 10:34, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Renessaince: hi. I wanted to do it for this month update, but I had problems with the script, so it's again "be-x-tarask" (I only fixed the main table entry by hand). I'll try to figure it out until next month. — Yerpo Eh? 10:57, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
Hi Yerpo! Unfortunately, the growth of the Belarusian (be-tarask) wikipedia hasn't been calculated. Could you please have a look at this? Thank you in advance! --Dymitr (talk) 10:22, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- You're right, the script missed it because the name was different in the table. I fixed it by hand now. — Yerpo Eh? 16:19, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
Update: because of the way the script operates, "be-x-old" will unfortunately have to stay until the language code is changed in Wikidata. — Yerpo Eh? 14:53, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
Minor fix on colors for list of Wikipedias
[edit]Hello! I just made a minor fix that would make easier to understand the color code of the list of Wikipedias by sample of articles. Having green as the worst score and purple as the best isn't easy to understand at the first sight. Hope you can integrate the change in your code. thanks! -Theklan (talk) 11:41, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you, but I prefer to keep the old scheme. The color scale there goes from cold to hot, giving editors positive motivation to attain "hotter" scores. Your scale, on the other hand, gives an impression that "low score = bad" and "high = good", which could frustrate volunteers in small Wikipedias that don't have the capacity to approach 100. Also, the colors were too strong, making the numbers less legible. — Yerpo Eh? 07:06, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Global rename request in Croatian
[edit]Hello Yerpo. I hope that you're okay. As hr-2, could you please take a look at Special:GlobalRenameQueue/request/66411? The user has block though. Thanks! —MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:15, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
- @MarcoAurelio: I saw that one, yes, but I was unsure what to do about it and then forgot. Maybe you could advise... The user was blocked because the username mixed religious and sexual connotations, but the alternative is basically the same in this regard (just phonetic inscription of Spanish pronunciation of Jesus) and will probably stay blocked. I'm leaning towards decline with explanation that :hrwiki admins won't be amused. Opinion? — Yerpo Eh? 10:22, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hello. Thanks for your quick reply. Indeed the username would qualify as innapropriate in Spanish Wikipedia as well because of what you said (it translates to "hot Jesus" or "Horny Jesus", which is not okay). I agree with declining the request and advise the user to choose a different name. Best regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:28, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. Declined. — Yerpo Eh? 10:33, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
List of Wikipedias by sample of articles
[edit]Hi Yerpo. I saw that you update this page referring to articles between 10 000 and 30 000 kb, from the list of Wikipedias by sample of articles. As Spanish Wikipedia already has a score above 80, could articles of that size be added to that list?. Cheers. --Rodelar (talk) 17:20, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- Other question. Cyrillic script is on the main list but in Spanish Wikipedia is <10 kb and still doesn´t appear on the stubs list. Should I update the list somewhere?. --Rodelar (talk) 17:46, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
@Rodelar: hi, I'm not sure because I'm not the author of the script used for generating the list, but I think the description is wrong - the Spanish stubs will be listed once there are fewer than 200. es:Alfabeto cirílico is just above 10.000 characters (the script counts characters not byte size), so it is counted as an article. If you need a list of the stubs to help you find articles for expansion, maybe I can arrange something. — Yerpo Eh? 18:24, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Yerpo. Thanks for your answer. I thought it was for kb, instead of characters, sorry. It would be great, in order to update the list and work on it, to know which articles are between 10 000 and 30 000. --Rodelar (talk) 16:30, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I copied the list to your subpage User:Rodelar/Spanish articles. Best, — Yerpo Eh? 19:30, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, thank you for the list, it will be very useful. --Rodelar (talk) 17:27, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

New WP editions
[edit]Hello. This message is also about the List of Wikipedias by sample of articles. The Altai Wikipedia was opened on February 23 (alt). Perhaps two more editions have opened recently, but I am not dealing with them, this needs to be clarified. It would be very good to include new editions in the table (before March updating) so we can understand where they started from.--Soul Train (talk) 14:51, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Request for rerunning the August update of List of Wikipedias by sample of articles
[edit]Someone changed the list of List of articles every Wikipedia should have without any discussion in July. As a result, many languages has one more absent article in the recent update. The undiscussed change has been reverted. Is it possible to rerun the August update in order to keep the fairness? Thank you. --XRTIER (talk) 01:05, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
- You're right, we missed this change. But I think that one article doesn't make such difference even if it's annoying (including to my own home wiki), I'd rather just wait until next month. — Yerpo Eh? 04:58, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Get started with the Lua interface to simplify the preparation of modules for translation in MetaWiki
[edit]Greetings!
The Language and Product Localization team has developed a Lua interface to simplify the preparation of Lua modules for translation in the MetaWiki platform. This means that module developers can now use the new Lua interface to load translatable strings, and the translators can translate them in the same translation interface that is used for templates and wiki pages.
This improvement makes it easier for translators to find and edit module strings without dealing with raw Lua code. It helps prevent mistakes that could break the module during translation.
We invite you to watch our demo video and read more about translatable modules to understand how it works. Please give us your feedback on this talk page on how well the Lua interface addresses the challenges in your workflow and how useful it is in module localization tasks. You can also refer to Module:User Wikimedia project, which was recently converted to utilize these messages, for example usage.
Your feedback is important as it will help us evaluate and decide how to continue developing and improving this interface, extend it to other wikis, or change our approach.
Thank you, and we anticipate your honest feedback.
