Hi Midom,

Is there some special reason for making backup only for wikipedias from aa to nl? Is it possible to make and publish a backup of ukrainian wikipedia? Regards. --Gutsul

All backups sooner or later are made :) Midom 09:28, 14 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Any help you can give at Wikimedia budget/2006/Q1/hardware will be appreciated. :) --Daniel Mayer 19:11, 5 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

$350,000? Could you separate that in needs/wants/wishes? That amount is even larger than the top end of my projection yet actual spending has historically been toward the lower end of my projections. --Daniel Mayer 03:20, 14 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Wishes: 10m$, needs: whole world, wants: 350k$ for Q1 hw growth. Historical datasets were smaller. Featuresets were smaller. It's not just about the load. Cheers. Midom 09:16, 14 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Ooom, 14:16, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

pronunciation of your name[edit]

I am going to check and update Translation_requests/WMF/Board_of_Trustees/ja. Could you please check your entry on a pronunciation table and put self-checked in the checked column?--NJT 11:06, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions for changes in the WMF privacy policy.[edit]

Hello, I would like to draw your attention to some suggestions for changes in the WMF privacy policy posted that I posted today at the WMF site: [1]. Since the WMF Board of Trustees actually decides on any changes in the privacy policy, I hope that you, as a Board member, will take a look at these suggestions. The main gist of the suggested changes is to require some form of notification of those registered users whose identifying info is being sought by subpoenas in third-party lawsuits. These suggestions are motivated in large part by a discussion that took place in January 2008 at the Wikipedia Village Pump (Policy) page [2] in relation to an incident where identifying IP data of sixteen Wikipedia users was released in response to such a subpoena. Of course, anyone else reading this is also welcome to participate in the discussion on this proposal. Regards, Nsk92 21:35, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, is there any reason you have checkuser on this wiki? You last used it in September 2007, and so don't have an apparent use for it. Majorly talk 16:37, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

*shrug*, probably was testing some checkuser bug or so ;-) I'm not using it, and I have my access to data via other methods. Midom 21:58, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Would you mind asking a steward to remove it, only for accuracy sake to show who active in using it, if you don't need it? Thanks, Majorly talk 21:59, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
i removed it myself. Midom 10:04, 23 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

dammit.lt/wikistats failure[edit]

Hello Domas,
see https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15177#c9 --- Best regards, Melancholie 01:52, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Midom. Could you please revert this edit in SpecialRecentchanges.php. This decreasing of limits makes recent changes patrolling very difficult, because it takes few minutes to few hours for large Wikipedias to reach a limit of 500 edits, and there is no way of watching older changes. Thanks — NickK 21:42, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

BTW it was already reported at bugzilla:18197NickK 22:31, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikivoices Invite[edit]

Hi Midom,
On behalf of Wikivoices, a community podcast based on the English Wikipedia, I would like to invite you (and all the other Board of Trustees candidates) to a round table interview on Skype to be held at 10:00:00 p.m. Friday July 24, 2009 in UTC. The format of this interview will be question-answer style whereby interested members of the community will pose questions to one or all of the candidates involved. If you would like any further information about the process or Skype, please contact Durova or myself on the English Wikipedia. Please be advised that spaces are limited and the sign up page can be found here. We look forward to your attendence at this event. Cheers   «l| Promethean ™|l»  (talk) 05:44, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Signpost interview request[edit]

Domas, I invite you to answer a set of questions for the Wikipedia Signpost about your board candidacy: w:Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2009 Board elections/Domas Mituzas. If you choose to do so, please let me know. I also encourage you to respond by 26 July; interviews with all candidates who respond will be publicized in the 27 July issue of the Signpost.

Faithfully, Ragesoss 18:15, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I will, I guess :-) Midom 18:45, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about the mix-up; that question about unsuccessfully running was not supposed to be one of your questions. Thanks for the thoughtful answers!--Ragesoss 15:33, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

German Translation Board Election Page[edit]

I translated your text into German (native speaker). See [3]. I'm a bit unsure about the translation of "chapters", I assumed the meaning of "subgroups" in German, wherefore the word "Teilverbände" (plural of Teilverband) stands. Best regards from Vilnus' sister-city Linz concerning the European capital of Culture and good luck for the election.--Methossant 11:43, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Attitudes barnstar[edit]

Please keep your attitudes... especially the ones which make Wikimedia projects read/write after half a hour read only. :) --Nemo 21:21, 2 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Did you ever attend Wikimania with your money? Talk to us![edit]

TL;DR: Fill a short Wikimania survey, it takes 5 min.

Hi, I'm writing you because you are listed in Wikimania/Frequent attendees. As you probably know by now, Wikimania 2016 Esino Lario wants to achieve a Wikimania format which allows people to "get things done" and leave the conference fully satisfied with the result of their investment of time and other resources (see pillars 2 and 4: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2016_bids/Esino_Lario/Pillars ). For this purpose, we consider all audiences (see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2016_bids/Esino_Lario/Program#Target ).

Participants other than scholarship recipients and reimbursed representatives are one group we heard very little from, but we think they are important because: 1) they have financial resources and help make the Wikimania budget sustainable; 2) they have motivation to share and ideas on what makes Wikimania valuable.

We set up a form mainly to collect names of some such people and talk with them later: if you provide your contact, we may write you on this topic. We may release aggregate data from the resposes; data will be handled by us and the Wikimania 2016 fiscal sponsor "Ecomuseo delle Grigne" (under EU law). Please fill the whole form, it's short!

Feel free to forward this invite to anyone.
