Technical, it's Allen!

Just reminder that I want to edit on the English Wikipedia, because I prefer to do so. But I'm currently under a block there for my unacceptable behavior happening, however I didn't vandalize, disrupt or damage anything over there. So, do I need to take time away from editing there? I need to edit on articles for fighting vandalism or adding a valid source there. --Allen (talk to me! / ctrb / E-mail me) 01:27, 5 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Yes, Allen, you need to stop editing. You don't need to edit anything on the English Wikipedia. I don't know what you think you have to contribute here on Meta, but I do recommend that if you want to contribute here and edit, you tread very lightly. I'm willing to be an open ear if you see something you want to comment on here or an edit that you want to make. What I will not do is edit for you on the English Wikipedia, by proxy. So, please, do not even ask me to do so, or I will have to not help you at all. Anyways, I don't check on here very often, unless I get an email saying I've got mail here (by the system, you don't need to send one, and please do not) or unless I'm checking for global blocks as part of my account creation duties for the English Wikipedia. Anyways, I'm going now... Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Technical 13 (talk) 01:34, 5 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have to call you at anytime, because the way it was I edit on Meta-Wiki is I work here for the main Wikimedia project and including on MediaWiki. It's great for you to help me what I edit there and the Wikimedia project, but more often. --Allen (talk to me! / ctrb / E-mail me) 02:47, 5 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Technical, this is Allen again! This is serious now about my talk page has been revoked on the English Wikipedia. And... can you make them unblock me there or tell them to let me regain my access to my talk page while I'm on elsewhere with ponies. You can email me back on December 9, 2014 in case of you wish to contact me again. My last response, I can't reply again until you email me at that date. You understand what I'm telling you on Meta? *sobs* Brohoof! --Allen (talk to me! / ctrb / E-mail me) 04:15, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Legacy JavaScript

[edit]

Hi, I see that you've added a notice to a number of user script talk pages about deprecated API usage. But aside from users who check their watchlists, will anyone notice this message? Perhaps you could post a corresponding notice to the main talk page of each user, or at least reply to each existing notice with {{u}} and your signature to trigger an Echo notification. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 22:01, 18 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Lab Tools "Curious Question"

[edit]

Just out of curiosity: What does it take to mantain a lab tool? (Mostly in terms of time-use)

I noticed the discussion has gone quiet for a few days (at Requests for comment/Abandoned Labs tools). Good ideas there, though. Thanks for starting it. - Capikiw (talk) 04:52, 10 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • That's a pretty good question. It takes a general knowledge of the language the tool is coded in, the time it takes to create a tool (if you're making your own), and making sure that you are easy to contact if something goes wrong. As far as taking over maintenance of someone else's tool, it very much depends on the stability of the tool. If it doesn't rely on the DB, and is really stable, the only time it takes for maint is when they do labs maint you may need to manually restart it, if it's not very stable and has memory leaks and is always crashing and you don't have big brother or web watcher set up to restart it for you very well, then it can take a few restarts a day manually (I can do a restart on 6 tools in about 20 minutes). Other than that, you may want to invest a little time in new features or upgrades or actually fixing bugs instead of just restarting to deal with them. - {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 00:32, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Global user page migration

[edit]

Hello Technical 13. I deleted your local user pages on all wikis as you requested via Synchbot, and your global user page is now active. You can see the deletion log on your archive page. :) —Pathoschild 02:39, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Over-qualified CSS selectors

[edit]

My apologies that this message is just available in English.

Over-qualified CSS selectors of portals in Wikimedia skins have been changed. div#p-personal, div#p-navigation, div#p-interaction, div#p-tb, div#p-lang, div#p-namespaces or div#p-variants are now all removed of the div qualifier, as in for example it is #p-personal, #p-navigation …. This is so the skins can use HTML5 elements. Your gadgets or user styles seem to use them and you will have to update them. You can read more in phab:T252467.
