Hatch-A-Wikimedian is a project of Wiki Advocates Philippines that aims to train new and existing editors to be ambassadors and community outreach organizers for different wikiprojects, communities and clubs. Wiki Advocates Philippines is a group of Bicolano editors that organized the Hatch-A-Wikiproject, a series of editathons and meet-ups that developed Wiksyunaryo, Wikisambit and Wikikawikaan out of Incubator. This pilot project is also supported by Art+Feminism through the Network Organizer in the Philippines. With the creation of the Leadership Development Plan, the group has intended to incorporate the resource into this existing program. The essence of Hatching A Wikimedian is taking birth to a leader in the Wikimedia Community.

Objectives

To broaden the scope of promoting global awareness on gender, feminism, and climate crises and continue preserving culture and language, Wiki Advocates Philippines will endeavor to train and form new community organizers that will create programs, and hold meet-ups within their local communities. These organizers will continue to bridge the gap in these knowledge areas through the use of wikiprojects and other open knowledge sources. In its first days of implementation, the group has focused on building editor and campaign organizing skills. The first session have focused with networking with newbie volunteers and eventually we have the chance to join as a group during the Learning Clinic being conducted by the Let's Connect team, tackling "Thriving as a Wikimedian in A Good Working Atmosphere", a crash course on UCoC and Friendly Space Policy.

With the creation of the Leadership Development Plan, the group has decided that this tool could be used as the backbone for the implementation of this current program. While we seek to develop them as contributors of open knowledge, we also perceive that each volunteer has their own individual capacities to take the lead in creating programs, leading campaigns, or being curators of different Wikimedia projects. The scope of these trainings will be guided by each subtopic located in the Leadership Development Plan.

Training Program

Understanding Leadership Roles and Skills	Volunteers will be made aware of different roles and tasks being handled by what we considered leaders in the movement such as the Affiliate leaders, campaign organizers, administrators, and others. At this point, each participant will be asked of the track they are willing to take into. Based on their options, they will be undergoing a different course of training. Wiki-project specific tasks will focused on editing skills and policies within Wikimedia projects, whereas campaign leaders will be immersed on the current outreach activities being done by the user group in order for them to have the first-hand experience of facilitating training programs and handling newbie participants. Navigating Leadership Situations	As the program commences, each participant will be evaluated, and based on the needs and feedback being raised, a discussion of further topics on the scope of leadership will be presented. A part of this session will also revolve around the UCoC and the Friendly Space Policy. Forums on DEI will also follow to support not only the technical know-how of each volunteer on Wikiprojects and communities but also the values expected for every Wikimedian. Starting a Leadership Development Initiative	At this point, the actual application of their skills will be tested. Campaign-focus participants will be asked to draft a rapid fund proposal for possible implementation in the future, consistent editors will be asked to apply for steward and handle local wiki projects. Upon their evaluation, a simpler version of the LDP will be created considering the cultural context, level of literacy, and needs of the community.	Stewardship Approval and Rapid Fund proposal draft
Amplifying the Local Implementation	Participants will be asked to provide their testimonials with regard to the training being participated in. This testimonial will be included on the final printout of the LDP booklet to be published by the group for wider dissemination in the Wikimedia community. Track-specific Courses

Title	Description	Outcome
Wikiproject Editing	Participants will undergo a rigorous training to be editors in Wiki project of their choosing; Wikiquote, Wiktionary, or Wikipedia. The modules on the Programs and Events Dashboard will be utilized during this sessions.	Sustained editor activity to comply with the minimum standard of being a bureaucrat in a wiki project and be eligible to access the Wikipedia Library.
Policy Making Workshop	Draft policies that are community-agreed and abide by the culture and tradition of the community while also incorporating the DEI values of the Wikimedia Community.	Provide suggestions for the over-all preparation of the affiliate guidelines which will also be part of the organizational handbook
Partnership Building	Tracking institutions that can be part of the affiliate program implementation (WikiDunung, Hatch-A-Wiki, Wikiboses, Art+Feminism, etc.) and come up with a project that would be both beneficial for the institution and the affiliate. Campaign Immersion	While this training is on-going, several projects of the affiliate are also being run. Participants of this training will be asked to be part of the facilitation and organization of the project. Project Needs

In order for this project to be fully implementable, maximize the capacity of trainers, and reach the foreseen outcome for each participant, the group has cited several aspects in which we need support.

Speakers	The affiliate is only composed of few old-time volunteer that can comprehensively discuss about leadership. We are in dire need of manpower to provide fresh knowledge for participants.	The Leadership Development Group is composed of experienced Wikimedians that can provide back-up support during our training sessions. Invites will be sent-out for those who are willing to share their experiences, best practices, and struggles as leaders in the Wikimedia movement.
Resources and Reference Materials	The discussion will not solely rely on the speakers' experiences. Each topic should be backed up with research and case studies for further reading of the participants.	The Leadership Development Plan published on Wikimedia Commons will be the main guidebook to be used during the entire program. Specific resources cited in the LDP will be print out based on the needs of the participant.
Funding Sources	The affiliate has its current General Community Fund for the operation of the organization but was not able to specifically request for this project.	A rapid fund proposal will be drafted to particularly support the implementation. Art+Feminism has also previously supported this initiative and the affiliate would humbly be asked for any support they are willing to extend.
