1. How would you include women in wikiprojects without having them involved in actual editing? Give particular ways on how you can showcase their works utilizing the different Wikimedia projects.

We may include women in wikiproject in a way that they are the respondents when conducting an activity most especially if women are the selected category to participate in a specific activity just like Women at work campaign. In this activity the target respondents are the women that are working in the Pasacao area. By conducting an interview, these women that agreed on it are also contributing and participating in the campaign even though they are working and may not by the means of editing.

2. How would the women being interviewed benefit from the work you’ve done? (Interviews and creating highlights of their work)

By the simple questions that we prepared, it is also their gain because having this courage is not an easy step. It takes a lot of courage to agree, answer and let us use their answers and their little information in this campaign. Having the chance to speak is also an overwhelming part to express your own thoughts, feelings, comments and insights about a certain topic. It was so good to be heard and recognized, wasn't it?

3. What impact would it create in Wikimedia projects by providing spaces for these women to have their works recognized?

Their answers can be a light for others. Some may experience the same and can relate with their life stories and have the chance now to go out of their comfort zone. Readers will also recognize and understand their insights. Some readers can have an idea to recreate and may also conduct this kind of activity in their country or places. Women boost women so that women can now have more courage to speak and be heard globally.

4. Does it create a specific contribution to bridging the gender gap if you include their personal stories in the wiki project?

Their answers including the thoughts, feelings, comments and insights or even their personal stories of their life can be a contribution into filling the gender gap. The power to speak as a woman is like having the rights to be heard and recognized.

5. If you have an idea in mind where you can further highlight their works using the Wikimedia projects, share it.

Aside from conducting an interview and gathering information from these women that are working, another way to highlight their works is to have their permission to get photos or a simple sneak preview film of their works to show others how they do their job and this will connect with the Wikimedia Commons.

Women@Work 2023

Amidst the Trials and Tribulations, the Beauty of Life Shines Through

As an interviewer for the women@work campaign, I had the privilege of engaging with a diverse group of women, each with their own unique story to tell. Initially apprehensive about my role, I soon discovered that the interviews were not merely about gathering information but about connecting with individuals on a deeper level. Under the scorching sun, we persevered, interviewing a total of twelve remarkable women. Their narratives, filled with resilience and determination, painted vivid pictures of their struggles and triumphs. Behind the smiles and cheerful demeanor lay a tapestry of experiences: single mothers battling financial constraints, widows grappling with loss, and individuals navigating the challenges of being a lesbian in a society that often marginalizes their identity. Despite the hardships they faced, their unwavering spirit and positive outlook on life were truly inspiring. Their stories, infused with the strength and determination of ordinary women, served as a testament to the indomitable human spirit. Particularly poignant was the account of a single mother and lesbian tricycle driver who, despite her struggles, remained committed to providing for her child. Her unwavering love and dedication to her family epitomized the selfless nature of motherhood.

The interviews evoked memories of my own mother, a woman who tirelessly sacrificed her own needs to ensure the well-being of her children. Her unwavering love and support, which I often took for granted, became clearer in retrospect. The women@work campaign unveiled the beauty that lies beneath life's imperfections. It reminded me that life is not about merely surviving but about embracing each moment, both joyous and challenging, with open arms. The stories shared by these remarkable women served as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards a more equitable and compassionate society.

As a woman myself, I am deeply passionate about the mission of Wikimedia Projects to amplify the voices of women and promote gender equality. Through initiatives like Art+Feminism and #SheSaid campaigns, Wikimedia is fostering an inclusive environment where women's contributions are recognized, valued, and celebrated. The annual edit-a-thons have proven to be a powerful tool in engaging women with WikiProjects without requiring them to engage in direct editing. Simply adding quotes about women has a profound impact, acknowledging their leadership and capabilities and challenging the outdated notion that women are inherently weak or dependent on men. The interviews we conducted with women from different walks of life have revealed the challenges they face in a world that often discriminates against women, particularly in the professional realm. However, their participation in these interviews has provided them with a platform to share their stories and experiences, challenging stereotypes and biases while inspiring others to stand tall and advocate for their rightful treatment.

While the immediate impact of these interviews may not translate into financial stability, they offer intangible benefits that are equally valuable. The validation and affirmation women receive from having their stories heard and valued can boost their self-esteem and confidence, empowering them to pursue their dreams and aspirations. By including women's voices and experiences in Wikimedia Projects, we are expanding the scope of knowledge about women's empowerment and promoting gender equality. This collective effort is creating a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of various topics, historical narratives, and cultural contexts. The contributions of women are not limited to traditional spheres of influence. Our recent interview with a lesbian tricycle driver who is also a mother and a daughter highlights the diversity of women's experiences and underscores the importance of recognizing and celebrating their unique talents and skills.

As a new member of the Wikimedia community, I am eager to learn more about the various projects and initiatives that are dedicated to promoting women's empowerment. I believe that Art+Feminism offers a powerful platform to celebrate women's talent, creativity, and leadership. Additionally, by promoting their products through Wikimedia Commons, we can not only support local businesses and entrepreneurs but also contribute to preserving the rich tapestry of local cultures.
